I’m a married woman who had an 8-year long affair with a married man. We were deeply in love. He decided a few months ago that he loved me too much to share me and needed to end things for his own mental health. He texted me today and brought up a trip we took and the great memories we made. Then he asked me out to lunch. He’s made it very clear previously he does not want a relationship and he’s moving on. But then why does he want to get together? If he wanted to chat we could just text or call. He’s so up and down with his feelings. He’s in the thrust of a midlife crisis, not wanting to be with his wife but not wanting to be with me, unhappy with his current state. I feel like carnage in the wake of it all. Why can’t he just voice his actual feelings?
