Why do people date single mothers or fathers?

you are doing all the work raising someone's child. yet these kids will never see you as their number 1 father in their lives. they will always see their biological father as first priority. It does not matter how much you pay for them, teach them, mentor them. You will always be second fiddle. Most of the time the kids, don't even truly want to be around the step father, especially if the parents divorced while the kids are older. Even if they might act nice on day 1, once a disagreement occurs, they will always side with their biological parents. NEVER YOU.

A research study that proved that the NUMBER 1 predictor of child abuse is having a step parent in the home. When a step parent is in the home, child abuse chances increases astronomically.

Honestly, I am not surprised. You're secretly miserable paying and doing all the work raising kids that aren't yours. These kids also likely WILL NOT RESPECT OR APPRECIATE you.

Of course these step parents will end up releasing their frustrations on these bratty kids.

And then there are those single fathers who only go to see their kids once or twice a month than act like they're great fathers. There is no bigger turn off than red flag than a man who choses to be UNINVOLVED with their children's lives.

If a man can be uncaring toward his own children, it is only a matter of time he would do the exact same to you, once you fall out of favor

the kids are an added bonus.
I couldn't have kids, so I liked having them around.
I didn't pretend to be their father as they had one that was in thier life.
They knew me for more than the guy that was taking their mom to places she hadn't ever been before.
I helped them with their homework, we did trips, all sorts of fun things.
I still stay in contact once in a while with them.

I know that, and I wasn't looking for that or to be a substitute father, but I enjoyed being around them.
Their father had them 3 weekends a month and 2 weeks at a time during the summer, so they got to spend a lot of time with him, and his new girlfriend.
And that gave us a lot of time without them to do what we wanted to do.
Overall, it worked out pretty well, like any divorced couples there were a few issues here and there, not constant or I would have bailed out early.
As long as the kids aren't used as pawns for control issues that many divorced parents seem to do I'm fine with it.
There is no way I would want to be involved in that type of relationship, way too much drama.

While I think you're mostly correct, there are some cases where "uninvolved" is simply respecting boundaries and/or allowing consequences of choices to be felt.

The number one sign, or coincidence, of parental alienation is when a step-parent enters the equation.

Because some people prefer having step kids because its less responsibility than having biological kids
