He broke up with me while i was sick. He said he wasn't himself, and he felt like i was hiding things from him. That, im always tip toeing around my parents and hiding him away. But earlier on in the relationship, he expressed that he didn't want to meet my parents anyway. All this to say, he condemned me, but now, over time, he still tries to talk to me. I know he's moved on with dating other women. However, it's been 5 years since we've broken up, i went over to his house because of an event. I peaked in his room and he changed his room, but all my presents are still displayed, even one was next to his bed. He showed me a case he bought for his office, and my present is on the first row. Why does he still have the stuff I gave him displayed? I sold, lost, burned, and threw away his presents.
If your ex doesn't throw away the stuff you gave them, does that mean you were never the problem? even if they broke up with you first?

No it doesn’t. Men don’t tend to put value, emotions or feeling to items a girl gave him. To most men it’s just an item. He’s not going to save a napkin from a restaurant to reflect on your first date together. Women tend to attach feelings to items. As men most of us keep it because it’s valuable in different ways. Maybe monetarily. Maybe in its use as far as how handy it is when it comes to doing things. For example a Gerber. It has many uses, it’s a name brand that cost a nice shiny little penny. So of course we’re not going to throw it out. It’s the same as restaurants. Women will get mad when a dude take her to a restaurant that he used to take his ex. She’s thinking he’s reminiscing about his ex. No I’m thinking they have some good as food that you’ll love as well.
My exe kept his plates and pans that I bought for him after his ex found out he was cheating on her with me. We broke up a month ago and I had to block him on venmo because he kept requesting money when I dipped on him.
My ex cheated on me and i never throw the stuff they gave on me (the stuff who still useful like branded stuff) or anything who i can still get the benefit of it.
