What's the best way to break up with abusive partner?

My partner is verbally, physically and emotionally abusive. I'm fed up and I just want out but he stated he don't want me to be with anyone else. We do got a kid together as well.

Don’t do it in person. When he’s out of the house next, get everything you can into your car, get help from friends if you need it, take the kid and go. Leave a note behind if you want, or just the key. You can deal with the custody battle later, but trying to confront it in person is only going to end badly if he’s abusive. He might threaten to kill you/himself/your kid if you tell him you’re going to leave him. Get somewhere safe and make sure if you keep contact with him, all of it is in writing. Keep a documented trail of everything he says, don’t answer any phone calls.

Take the child and leave, then return with some strong male friends to collect your things. Do not tell him where you are staying. Leave town if you can. You might contact a local women's shelter for more detailed advice.

The most dangerous time for a victim is immediately after they leave. Do not break up with them face-to-face. Abusive partners are unpredictable and often escalate when they realize they are losing control.
