Seriously though, I think the snail has the advantage on a warm summer day, she can get shelter whenever she needs to. The slug has to make sure he's quick enough to find decent shade.

Slugs will drown in saucers of beer which is one way we use to keep them out of our pumpkins in the spring which really has nothing to do with answering your question but it might be a good gardening tip for someone if they need it.
