How do I 'break up' with someone after 5 dates?

I went out with a guy for 4 dates, ( a date per week) I want to end whatever it is we have going on right now as I feel now that I'm not ready for a relationship with our age gap and maturity levels (he's 6 years older than me) We haven't had sex yet but done everything apart from it at his place. Would it be appropiate to end it by text? or should I go out on a 5th date and tell him then? Any suggestions of what I'll say?

I wouldn't text it, but you could give him a call. Tell him what you just said, that you feel as though you're not ready for a relationship right now and you'd prefer to date guys closer to your age. You can't just say you're not ready for a relationship though because then he'll come back and say that it's OK if you just date. You HAVE to throw out the age, generation gap thing. Be honest.

Up to you really, being broken up with feels as bad either way in my opinion, only difference is you either feel a bit bad seeing their reaction doing it in person, or you feel abiit bad for doing it by text and not in person...
