Question

Say you're married, y'all have kids and you *think* your marriage is fine and everything is dandy.

But you know your partner is cheating on you...they have a lover on the side, they MAYBE confide personal things to them, but they definitely are intimate with them...

you have the image that your marriage is perfect but in reality you know it isn't. If you go for a divorce you risk losing everything, but if you keep mum you keep everything and your partner gets to eat their cake and some...

If I find out my partner is cheating then I'd definitely not be able to ignore it. I'd confront him and then I'd be pissed at him for a really long time. But I do think in a marriage environment where there's kids involved I could try to work it out, depending on things that went down in his affair and obviously whether he really loves me or not. In a family setting I think I'd be sort of forced to make a decision that's best for the entire family, and not just for me only. If  I however find out a boyfriend is cheating on me then he's out immediately.

I wouldn't want to and in principle I would say no ...

... but sometimes it almost sounds like a necessary evil if you actually want to stay married.

When I was younger I would have said "no way!" ... but now that I've seen more personally what many people's marriages are like from an adult perspective, I guess all I can say is I'm not certain anymore what I'd do, especially with kids involved.

naw never - I was married minus the kids though. when I found out he cheated I packed my stuff quietly and slapped him with divorce paper within three weeks. and if I had kids with him I make damn sure I have full custody, as if he could teach them respect and loyalty.

It depends on lots of things. My parents were both cheating on each other when I was about 15 and then they both knew after awhile but continued to live together until I was 19 and my sister was 17. It depends on how long they had cheated, with who, why, if we had kids, and if I thought they still loved me at all or not.  I could probably never look at my partner the same though.

No, I'll find myself a hotel room and move out then talk to my lawyer about who keeps what. If there were no kids involved I'd just kick the bitch out and tell her to enjoy being homeless but with kids there's an extra layer of responsibility.

I'd end it no matter what.  A marriage can't be perfect if your partner is cheating.  I'd go spend time with someone who thought I was worth it because my spouse clearly wouldn't be.  He could go bang his little home wrecker all he wants, because I'm out.

No. As hypocritical as this may sound considering how I've cheated in the past on a boyfriend, if I ever found out my husband was cheating on me, I wouldn't hesitate to divorce him...even if we had kids together.

If your potential spouse chooses to stay with you after that and wants to work things out, it shows they are a pretty forgiving person. I would never be as forgiving. It takes a lot for a person to be willing to stay with someone after that.

I wouldn't file for divorce right away, but I wouldn't stay quiet either. I would have to talk to my husband about it. If there are issues in the marriage that can be addressed, I would want to try fixing them rather than just ending it.

You'd be surprised but most people and a lot of people go through that and either look the other way or work it out. Most do get divorced.  Me personally, I would never get married so no worries.
