@Felinegirl People usually are given legitimate IQ tests by the psychiatrist to rule out intellectual disability. IQ tests are not supposed to be smarter-than-you tests, because among average people, IQ can change and is very malleable.

Chances are, many of these IQ tests cannot properly measure true IQ and tend to inflate the IQ to make the taker feel better. Most people should be average. If most people are "above average", then you definitely know something is wrong. At that point, you have to go in and adjust the test to reflect the new average.
