Being a stepdad is the single most thankless and difficult job on earth. I won't date women with small children, not anymore. It's all liability and loss. I can deal with grown kids, I don't have to raise them.
Considering the rate of paternity fraud in the US, why would any man want to knowingly take on the task of raising another man's children when that another man may not even know he has a child in first place?
Obviously single moms have undesirable baggage. However, men will date single moms for sex. Also, men will marry single moms that are sexier and prettier than (available to them) single girls. Even though their ages and complexions are similar, giving the choice, most men would choose to marry the single mom on the left over the possible virgin on the right.
Bro, don't shame that girl. She's obviously trying! She's out there on the trail making an effort to run and shed the pounds.
@Jamie05rhs The purpose of the photo was not to shame only to visually show why men might choose a single mom over a less attractive single girl. There is no shame in not being more desirable. It is just a fact of life. There is no shame in not being a great athletic, beautiful. young, or highly intelligent, but they are desirable characteristic that make the few lucky ones more more desirable.

For me, it's probably weird on my part. I do not want kids. But hard to say it's a deal breaker with a single mom with 1 child. If we connect, I dont want to lose that chance. But I'd feel weird if I'd have to care for another man's kid in away. And then I'd be thinking maybe I should make a kid myself with her. Hard to make sense of it.

That's something I have no control on, and that's an issue.
The guy could have died. The guy could end up with an addiction be ot alcohol, drugs, gambling etc right after the baby is born or years afterwards.

This is why women should refuse to date or have sex with single fathers.
They are free to think the same way about single fathers. I think no child-less person (whether male or female) should get with a parent and take up responsibility which is not theirs, but rather start their own fresh family.
I think that’s likely in most cases. However, I had a stepdad who couldn’t have kids own kids biologically. We were his kids, essentially. He’s a good man and I’m thankful to have had him growing up.

That’s true. I wish more women would be more selective with who they sleep with in the first place so they’ll be less likely to become single mothers. It’s always been very difficult to get in my pants. My first serious boyfriend waited two years. It’s always been my worst nightmare to get knocked up by a guy who later revealed himself to be a shit partner/father and then leaving me high and dry. And there’s no way I’d be one of those women who willfully takes the kid and splits. I’d never let him get off that easy.
This is why I always give props to cultures and religions who promote waiting till marriage before having sex. I mean as much as that's a taboo here in the west, there are so many problems they don't have to deal with that our societies ARE dealing with. at least not on the same scale

I’d say that the few single fathers with primary custody that I’ve known have been pretty responsible and dedicated to their children. However I don’t share a man nor do I want kids so I’ve turned down plenty of otherwise good men simply because he had a kid. It’s just not my preference.

You missed one argument; granted it isn't as common in this day and age. However, I don't want to date someone who has more sexual experience than me. So as a virgin, a single mother says that she isn't a virgin anymore; and has more experience than me.
