Movie review:

  • Tom is a guy who works for a greeting card company, but has a passion for Architecture. Summer is a girl who wanted something new and interesting, so she found a job in the same place Tom found one. Working for a greeting card organization.

They end up hanging out more and more, until finally becoming sexual, and that all goes on and off for 500 days, roughly. Tom becomes unhappy that Summer won’t call or agree to be and be called his girlfriend. She doesn’t seem to appreciate his gestures of affection in his hopes of being her one and only exclusive and vice versa.

  • He also doesn’t seem to notice that the relationship is one sided and she doesn’t love him as more than a friend.


Towards the end he makes a serious adjustment on his outlook on love and decides to ditch the company he works for. He claims they are liars and promote people not being clear about their own feelings or lack of it. (Despite her having said from the get go, she didn’t want a boyfriend or ever belong to someone).

  • He takes the risk to reach for his dream while doubting the existence of fate and soulmates because of this encounter.
    Upon a meet up later in the closing, she confirms her marriage to someone she was sure about. She claims Tom was right about love and she could’ve easily missed the encounter with her now husband.

Both learned from the experience but Tom had a heartache from it. She had a heartache earlier on in her life with the split up of her parents. (She seems she may find some healing or a newfound joy in the new relationship).

  • Tom attends an important interview; there he meets a lady who seems polite, interested. She looks like another summer in smile and conversation, and admits to having an engagement after, when he asked (confidently) to take her to lunch.

Seconds before he leaves for what he committed for (interview), she changes her mind and they exchange names. She so happens to be Autumn.
