Why do some guys think women always choose a "Chad Thundercock" to date?

I've only recently just come across the term "Chad Thundercock" which at first glance, sounds highly amusing. I've dug deeper on its meaning, and this "Chad" stereotype is some gym obsessed meathead with a six-pack, has lots of cash, a player and has a rather impressive member. And girls apparently fall head-over-heels for them.

God, how this couldn't be further from the truth. I'm on Tinder, and if I saw some six-pack wielding sports guy with pictures of himself in the mirror at the gym, posing in suits with a (probably fake) shiny rolex and a sports car, I'd run in the opposite direction and never look back. It's kind of scary and they're not my type. Don't find it attractive at all.

I will also argue that this "Chad Thundercock" can come in all shapes and sizes, so the term isn't necessarily applicable to the description above; it's just the mental image I get from guys describing "Chad" in this way.

You might run. Maybe most women would run. But far more women want to hook up with 'chad' than there are 'chad's to go around. So being something like Chad is the most likely way for men to have a lot of success in the hook up market.

Generally speaking, being tall, good looking, athletic, muscular (to the point of say Olympic swimmers), successful, having high income, dressing well, being cool, being able to play music or sing, doing charity work, being respected and admired, being mentally strong, being able to protect yourself and others... all of these are traits that -most- women find attractive. Not every woman (and in particular, some women get insecurity triggered by some of them).

Of course, I'm not sure -any- man has all those traits. And most women, some of those traits they don't care nearly as much as some other women do.

So you want to have a bunch of strong traits, and then you will attract women who prioritize those traits.

It's also true that since very few young men are rich, famous musicians, or leading charitable organizations, the most common combination that scores a lot are athletic guys with good bodies, decent looks, and cocky.

Thanks for the opinion. I do like and will choose a guy who likes to be healthy, but that can be maintained by all kinds of activities. My point is, s that the term describes a man who is vain, flashes the cash and has an ego the size of the universe. No ta mate.

Chad doesn't have to be a meathead, but he does have to at least be athletic, like you said.

Guys remember being the awkward, pimply loser in high school with greasy hair and braces who hasn't blossomed yet, while Chads stayed devilishly handsome and got girls. Some guys never leave that bitterness stage (nor do they try to make themselves fit and desirable) and instead blame it on Chad, all through adulthood.

Nobody says you always date them. They say that you have casual sex with those guys when you are in your sexual exploration phase, and then when you want a serious relationship you go for a less attractive guy who is willing to wait for sex, pay for dates, and commit to you.

Are you REALLY going to try to blame that perception on men rather than women? If so, you are clueless. If you have a problem with this, talk the your female counterparts who created and continue to persist that perception. Get a clue.

1/2 Thanks for the opinion. Just from my observations, it seems this term has only been mentioned and thus the mental picture has been created from men and by men, as "Chad" is a person they appear to compare themselves too. Kind of sad really and similar to models and advertising in general for both sexes. How can a woman or a man compare to an airbrushed model in some perfume advert living a life of luxery? You automatically think they have the highlife and are living the dream, when really you're made to think that by the advertisers and that you'll be more accepted in society. It's human to feel insecure. And what of the female counterpart "Stacey Thunderboobs" or something lol? The glamour-model, sexually successful and gym-obsessed woman stereotype; this isn't applicable to men and realistically, I would not think all the men on this planet would be attracted by these women and choose to date them. But that's just generalisation and highly unfair.

Thanks for the opinion. Nope, never been found a "Chad" or a guy similar to one, attractive. Lots of girls find Channing Tatum sexy phsyically (I don't) or when I was a teenager Ed Pattinson were the heart throbs and I never found myself fawning over them lol. I guess I like my men more rugged and look a bit... more "Aragon" from LotR type haha.
