It's super important. It's one of the reasons I'm happy that my partner and I were super close friends for four years before we dated and kinda grew up together for a little while, because we still have that jokey, kiddy element to our relationship where we're totally comfortable with teasing each other or lightly mocking each other and we know how far we can push it.

Yes, if conversation can just flow well and we can laugh at one another and make playful jabs. Makes it easier to see if you're compatible. I wouldn't want to be with someone that takes things to seriously or can't have a laugh, even if the joke is on them every now and then.

I'd say playful banter is definitely part of the fun of being in a relationship. I can't speak from experience and say whether it's essential or not, but I think it would be a little weird to be that close to someone without teasing them every once in a while.

It can be a good thing that two people can banter back and forth between each other, but I don't know how critical or important it is. I do however have a sense of humor that some girls aren't used to, and may get offended or think that I joke around too much. So I definitely think that a good sense of humor is important.
