Help.. I rejected a kiss because I was nervous?

I went on a date with a guy recently. He was really nice, I could tell he was a bit nervous and so was I. After dinner we were supposed to go for drinks but he forgot his ID so we ended up just walking a round and talking on a bench.

We were just talking and then at one point we went quiet and we’re giglling and then he reached in to try and kiss me. I was really nervous so I kind of backed away.

I didn’t want to reject him but I told him it was cause we just met and that if I had been a little tipsy maybe I would’ve kissed him but I was a little nervous.

He said it was okay and that he wouldn’t force me. Things got a little awkward after that and we just went back to the train station.

When saying bye we hugged and he said- so I guess I’ll see you when I see you.

Should I text him that I had a good time and ask him out again? Or shall I wait for him to text him?

Is is there a chance I ruined it?

Update:
So I texted him first after the date to thank him and say that we should go get those drinks sometime.
He replied a day later saying that he had fun and that he would be up for that too.
Since then he started texting me less and left my last texts on read.

I guess he didn't like me rejecting his kiss.

Honestly, he may just be waiting for you to prove that you did have a good time. Text him and say you did have a good time, and you would love to go out again. He probably didn't know what to think, so he's letting you make the next move.

You need to as k him out so he knows you are still interested. He probably feels he was being presumptuous and he threw the breaks until you let him know.

Try to explain to him the reason that you rejected his kiss was because you're really nervous. If he loves you then he'll understand it
