Why don't guys like chick flicks?

1.some guys find them boring and would rather be putting the moves on you instead LOL

actually I believe its really different with various types of guys. some do some don't.

myself ,lol ... I sort of like them because they bring back memories(not always good ones though) which can bring you through a whole range of emotions.(which can be good ones too)

generally I can relate to the main character that's the underdog nerd/geek who likes the popular girl whom she doesn't knows exist in many cases. all the twists and turns and at times hopefully everything turns out OK in the end.

Hell, even the beast in Beauty and the Beast Prince is good looking. link It doesn't make guys feel any better about ourselves.

3) Generic plot - Boy meets girl, fall in love, parents disapprove, girl suffers heartbreak, boy and girl meet again, they either fall in love and die together (cough Romeo and Juliet) or live happily ever after after a conflict.

its not emotionally arousing for them like it is for us. Most of the movies revolve around women's feelings, impulses, desires...which some men cannot relate too but its too idealistic for them. its just not stimulating because they don't like figuring interpersonal relationships like we do (hence that's why females gossip more) haha

Romantic comedies in particular are usually not romantic, not comedic, and super predictable.

And the more "emotional" chick flicks are also predictable, and kind of boring a lot of times.

Meh, maybe I'm just weird though. :/

too much emotion I would guess. They would rather see killing and battling that soft and fluffy stuff. Some men like Chick Flicks... I am a woman and I don't like them because I think they are pretty unrealistic.

In my opinion there are different types of romance movies

Type 1 is your generic romantic comedy movies like 21 dresses, valentines day etc...

Guys do not like these, I can honestly say that most guys do not like these. As for why? simple they are generic and unfunny.

Type 2 is your generic Nicholas sparks movie, guy girl meet, something comes up to break them apart, somebody gets a disease etc... like the notebook, walk to remember

Guys do not like these either. Why don't guys like these? once again predictable, hopelessly sappy, slow paced

Type 3 is basically the ETC category, you have a romance movie taking place in a post apocalyptic world, somebody has to go on a quest to save their loved one, man falls in love with monster/robot/ugly girl, time traveling to save a loved one etc, guy must choose between multiple girls...

For me personally its just the way how the guy Always gets the girl in the end. I have suffered a lot of pain and rejection in my life and it sickens me how everything comes out with a perfect bow tie at the end. I'm glad its all candy land but I wish there was realism.

It all depends on what you define as a "chick flick." If its one of those movies about 3 generations of women "finding themselves" and bla bla bla, that's just boring. Doesn't matter if it was women or men or gophers, any movie that spends 90 minutes just on people moping and complaining is dull. Now, if it's "girly" stuff like musicals, romantic comedies, what have you, I love that kind of stuff. Just so long as the movie's entertaining, I don't care what genre it is.

Because sometimes they make us cry, and guys are only allowed to cry at sports movies that involve "the little guy", and when a really hot girl is about to take her shirt off. Chick flicks risk breaking the man law. Hence, no likey.

i like them as long as my girlfriend is there to watch them with me. it just seems boering or dumb when I don't have a girl there to cuddle with and chat about the redundant plot that I may or may not get into without her

Those movies are too fake for me. Most of the movies have fairytale plots, which make girls think that that is how life really is. Girls are in for a wake up call when they realize real life isn't what hollywood makes it out to be.

My main problem with them is that they are so predictable. If you see the preview you know exactly what's gonna happen in the movie.
