Well first thing I do if I haven't talked with her is I would keep an eye on her body language (ex- how she behaves with friends (girls), does she behaves same with boys too?, does she steal stares at you?, does she do that to others?, is she shy?, is she outgoing?, if she initate convo with other guys does she do that to you? etc etc) if you get positive signs from her then go ahead and approach her but if you get negative signs then talk with her friends become good friends with them and slowly approach her through her friends
