Has the #Metoo movement made you reluctant to make sexual or romantic advances with feminists in dating situations?

I recently was on a first date with a feminist woman that was a professor. We had a lot in come and sat for 5 hours talking. But... I found myself terrified of touching her or being physically intimate because of #metoo and accusations against men.

I didn't even want to ask consent in fear of being perceived as a pig in one extreme or a weak beta male in another.

So I did nothing. She afterwards said she felt a "friendship vibe" from me.

Now im a feminist. I know that you can make a move on women and be okay. But #metoo has also made me terrified of an Emitt Till situation. Help!

I don't get why men are getting upset about the idea that we are coming down hard on rapists and people who otherwise sexually assault
We come down pretty hard on murderers too, right? But most people aren't concerned about that, most people think we should be harder. So why aren't you concerned about tough rules when it comes to murder. And if the answer is "because I'm not a murderer" you should really think about why it is you're concerned about being falsely accused of rape or assault

Now a bit of common sense advice. I feel like people have lost all... well common sense when it comes to dating.
Obviously you don't go from 0 to 100 right away. You test the waters a bit first. Hold her hand or if you're in the cinema put your arm around her. If that works well go a bit further, put your hand on her thigh. If that works well go a bit further, move your head in closer...

I've experienced several guys going in for a kiss out of nowhere and then are completely perplexed when she's like "whoa... back off" and maybe tells a friend she was uncomfortable with it

Yeah. I've kissed girls on the first date based on instinct. Then they like me and ask me on more dates. But ever since Kavanagh im gunshy. It would hurt me if I was falsely accused. I never want to hurt anyone. but my romantic vibe is fucked up with nightmares of how people resonded to an accusation without any evidence. Again, I respect women. But women have actually made fun of me negatively for asking consent to kiss etc.

Well the thing is there aren't a lot of "me too" stories about guys trying to hold your hand. And by doing it step by step and seeing her reaction you'll never make a girl uncomfortable to the point where she feels ... violated. That's important

If you're talking about someone maliciously falsely accusing you, that's a different story. There isn't a whole lot anyone of us can do about being falsely accused of anything.

See here's the problem with that. Men get too aggressive and then you start talking about sexual assault and whatnot. Men get too passive, you then start sleeping around and then start saying "You weren't paying enough attention to me" assuming you ever get caught.

I'm a woman who's not gay or bi so I didn't vote but I can understand your concern. However, on a date its ok to flirt. It's ok to make advances if you feel that vibe. It's different if you are not on a date, say at work or if she says no. But I understand. It's sad that it has to be this way but too many people have abused others and it is a worthy cause to raise awareness.

I’m very on the fence with it as of late, because I feel like SOME women cheapen what was meant to be a powerful thing for victims, and hijacked it for things that are shitty, but not as bad as what the me too movement was meant to represent. Yes, feminism has destroyed male-female relations and the fake female victim complex has made it impossible for men to say or do anything around women without fear of false allegations. I would suggest all men record (at least audibly) ANY interaction they have with a female.

I already had run into this -- women getting pissed off at me because I messaged them asking if they want to get to know one another better. The #metoo movement didn't really change that other than open my eyes to see how widespread abuse against women really is.
