Are traditional relationships a good or bad thing in 2019? Would you try one?

Question

By traditional I mean
The female is the housewife, cleans, cooks, looks after kids, does the shopping etc
The male is the money maker and works etc
Kinda thing

Mine and my bfs families are both like that and we intend on keeping that "tradition" going (and are doing best we can atm)
Its almost something that seems to be lost in modern day, and even looked down upon with feminism on the rise

But from our experiences of it, its had nothing but positive effects (growing up as a kid whose parents had that relationship and being in that kind of relationship now)

Part of me believes this is the way it ought to be and we should eb returning to this as a society, not shunning it. Men and women get along much better when communication and roles are clearly defined within the context of a domestic situation. Women are natural nurtures and caretakers, men are the laborers and providers. SO much has been twisted throughout the last decade beyond women's liberation and women are put in a situation where they face off again men in the workplace and the general rat race vs companions to survive it for the next generation. So much of it, is ruining marriages and distorting the very meaning of them making it that much harder to raise children.

I think women have the freedom now that they never had before, and while they can of course make independent decisions bringing back the nurturer/provider dynamic would help stabilize society. If women today felt they could find good providers they could focus more on minding the home, children and of course cooking, cleaning and everything to do with home economics, like it used to be. Thought today she can mind a home business, pursue many hobbies, vote and not have to worry about finances and surviving in the workplace wether it be white collar or blue collar. Today however sharing finances would be key, vs being the sole property of the man.

Gradually withdraw them from the workplace, back to the home and re-offer home economics courses, cooking, childcare as default learning like they used to be. Positive codependency can be a good thing. This is not a "get back in the kitchen!" diatribe. My mother took such classes and felt they are just as important today then they were in her day. Nothing demeaning or sexist as in the past as women are free to pursue business and macroeconomics classes as electives. if they want

I know many may call me sexist or disagree with me vehemently, however nothing I said is depriving women of choices, though if most women saw it as their honor as women to first and foremost be wives, mothers and homemakers would make for a more harmonious society

The important thing is the option. In the past there was no choice except the "traditional" relationship. I think that people should have the choice whether they want to work or not. If they want to have a traditional relationship then let it happen, if they don't then also let that happen. Whereas before a woman who worked would be seen as weird.

There’s nothing wrong with being, or wanting to be, a housewife. That in itself is a job, just thinking about it. I don’t think you’d need to live it, to see how.

It’s so tempting to just laze around NOT cleaning; cooking (excluding microwaving frozen dinner plates from Walmart) is time-consuming; and... babysitting is hard enough for my sisters, so, being a housewife/mother would be like full-time babysitting.

I doubt any child does *ALL* of these nowadays, but growing up, me and my sisters went figure skating; we played puzzles, Scrabble, and Checkers; we had a backyard playground, and we used to have bicycles. When we moved, we would go to the playground at the park. The first few years after we moved, we would learn ballet and gymnastics (which didn’t last, but it was fun.) And every Saturday, we would spend an hour exercising indoors (the Kathy Smith workout videotapes.)

Anyway 😁 We grew up on Full House reruns, Little House on the Prairie (and Laura Ingalls Wilder’s autobiographical books, on which the TV show is [well... loosely] based), The Brady Bunch reruns, and Shirley Temple’s movies.

So, among wholesome family shows/movies, I recommend those for your future children.
It’s sad that many children don’t grow up with these anymore, in my opinion. Comparing that with food, it’s like not growing up with homemade meals. (😂😂😂 Am I going too far?)

Ooh, and TV shows I didn’t grow up with, but love just as much, are “Bewitched,” “I Dream of Jeannie,” “That Girl,” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” (the one with Melissa Joan Hart 😬).

I think, it doesn’t matter if people look down on traditional lifestyles. They shouldn’t be so judgmental, first of all. And being a housewife doesn’t mean you don’t support equality. It’s just like, being a girly-girl doesn’t mean you can’t be badass and fierce.

Ooh, by the way, the main character/witch, Samantha Stephens, in the TV show “Bewitched,” is a housewife 😊 Just so you know...

I think they’re fine for couples who are comfortable with them and enjoy them but that’s not the kind of lifestyle I want for myself and my husband.

Whatever works for both of you financially and both are comfortable with. It's neither bad nor good.

Though in many countries (compared to the US where I'm guessing you are from) the system is build in a way where it is not as easy to survive on one salary - while at the same time daycare is easier/free. This encourage both parties to work. So the answers you get may differ depending on the generally accepted norm in that place. I wouldn't claim it is a "feminist agenda".

One risk for a stay-at-home mom is if divorced late in life. Suddenly you may find yourself without education and/or work experience and find it difficult to start supporting yourself.

If you can afford it it's a great thing, especially if you have children. Young children benefit greatly from having a parent at home and being taken care of them rather than being put into daycare to allow both parents to work, as you know from your own experiences.

I lean towards the more liberal attitude of "whatever works for any particular couple", but I can see definite benefits of a more traditional arrangement like this. There's just something about a man providing and a woman nurturing that's very psychologically satisfying. I guess that's our evolution expressing its preferences.

Personal I'm more modern. I don't expect the benefits of traditional dating.
I am willing to share the load of house work in exchange for women approaching and being fairer with money.

I wouldn't try it actually it's not " bad " or " good " they just have pros and cons like anything else and you just have to see what suits you
Its cons are however: is that the father is treated like an ATM machine not a human being and doesn't feel as connected with the kids
As for the mom if the dad cheats or leaves she literally has no income

I don't think it's lost at all, it's just not often talked about because so many people like to shame women who choose that lifestyle. I know a lot of families like that and they seem to me to be very healthy, happy families with kids who seem better adjusted than most, which should be no surprise to anyone.

I think it's good and I won't marry a woman who doesn't agree. Our kids deserve a real mother.

You talking about USA circa 1950’s-1960’s?
Well today most women enter the workforce because they have to to keep the family afloat.
Unless your man makes north of 50k a year you will not be able to comfortably live

I'm traditional up until women working. If she is capable (no disabilities or pregnant) to work then she is going too. Why should women who are able to work not get too

I don’t want to be in any relationship. Though In generally I don’t think it’s bad but if people don’t want it there is nothing you can do about. If you want it fine but it’s pretty obvious society and most people are against it
