I asked what straight girls and guys thought about feminine men and masculine women. When I checked the poll 20:40 (Norwegian time) I found out these things:
Masculine women: 1. No men or women liked entirely masculine women or women with a masculine look. 2. Only 2 men liked women with some masculine behavior.
Feminine men: 1. 5 women and 1 man liked feminine men according to the poll. 2. Only 1 woman liked a feminine personality, but not looks. 3. 9 women and 3 men didn't find feminine men attractive at all.
There were 15 who participated in the poll about masculine women and 30 about feminine men, so the numbers aren't exactly or hundred percent reliable. Why do more girls like feminine men than guys like masculine women?
I've seen both polls. I think they were a bit unbalanced.
Masculine women in the photos looked very manly and their masculinity was shading their feminity, while in femenine guys the example you gave where guys who are masculine but have some femenine traits, so feminity didn't shade their masculinity. There the difference. The masculine women looked like guys, while the femenine dudes still looked like guys.
Besides, masculine women examples were dressing manly, while femenine guys were not dressing with femenine clothes. So the girls looked like men and the men looked just a bit androgynous.
You could have played the androgynous card with women too, with celebrities like Cara Delevingne or even Ellen Page, that have very squared faces and inspire some masculinity but still are femenine (just like Jared Leto or Leonardo DiCaprio might have some femenine traits but still look a lot like guys).
Probably just the recent shift of culture and a lot of things women doing still being seen as Masculine even though they have become far more acceptable.
Or maybe the fact that men are the ones who think too hard about it. Women don't really care a lot as long as he's just a good man and a good partner lol. I really see men caring about a lot of things that I never thought mattered, and coming up with stupid conclusions like men who like pink are somehow effeminate cucks, lmao.
Male sexuality is more binary than female sexuality, males tend to like either one thing or the other (if they are gay), and there's way less in between. Women seem to have a sexuality that mostly resembles a spectrum that goes from masculine to feminine and all in between. I talked about this in college if you want I might try to ask the teacher the name of the study or book.
Women feel more vulnerable than men and it is important for them to trust a partner early in a relationship. Perhaps they perceive feminine guys as less threatening.
But if we accept your basic premise as fact for discussion's sake, then my guess would be that women are exposed to feminine/ adrogynous men in the media, and those men can still occupy high status positions in society. I mean, David Bowie wore all kinds of makeup and gender-flipping outfits, and he had no shortage of groupies wanting to work his crank, coz... he's David Fucking Bowie lol. Just look how much glam rockers in the 80s were getting laid, women found that confidence attractive even if it wasn't the stereotype ideal of a "man's man".
Contrast that with the butch manly women in popular media today. VERY few men wanna get with them, coz they just look like dudes. We're far more visual in what attracts us. Girls can be attracted to a feminine looking guy if he owns his "look" and has that confident swagger about him. But guys won't be attracted to manly looking woman no matter how much she "works it". The only people she's impressing are a handful of pansexual bloggers and Carol from HR who has a gender studies degree xD
p. s. I'm excluding "tomboys" from this, as they can still have feminine traits but just enjoy "boyish" activities, I'm talking about the completely butch women who basically look like men.
Women THINK they know what they want, but they really don't. It's just all about their feelings at a particular moment. Women want to think they want someone like themselves, but when she gets that she loses respect, is repulsed by it. No, a weak-sauce guy that can't make decisions, can't or won't lead, is crappy in bed, and cries when she does, is a loathsome creature to be scorned by women.
Funny thing, there is already some studies on this and your results with very small n is consistent with previous findings. I think there are two reasons: women are more open to bisexuality than men and because when we are small children, boys are not yet masculinized so the first males the females have crushes on have soft faces and not high but also not deep voices.
That is not a feminine man wtf? A feminine man is me and it’s all about personality not looks rofl. I look like your average muscular and toned short hair cut I look like a masculine guy but deep down I have a feminine side I prefer talking a lot not like guys who just give one word answers to stuff. Hate football rugby not bad I enjoy shopping for myself too and styles. Love food and adventure. Not stuff like football and beer.
I think you have something there. I seem to notice that in real life. But more in the big cities. Like out in the country. Everyone seems to attracted to the work horses of the humans and not the pretty boys and girls. Like bodies built for farm work
I think that's a bad example of a feminine man. I can't see women going for that unless really into girls. I think a feminine man is more like a GQ model who dresses like a man but spends as much time in the bathroom getting ready as a woman. I dunno maybe I'm completely wrong on this
Is this a fact? Id guess men are put off or can be intimidated by a masculine lady... May lose some feeling of control or desire to control.. I don't know its just a guess... Now if she's got some facial hair going it explains itself ya?
Nobody nowadays like masculinity because our society dooms everything linked to that! Strentgh is linked to violence, doomed. If you are strong you are stupid, doomed. Being direct is wrong, not elegant, doomed.
