How to ask a guy I like to facetime without it being awkward or weird?

To preface this I realize it’s not that big of a deal to ask someone to facetime; but I really like this guy and don’t want to mess it up by making it awkward. I’ve been talking to him for pretty much 3 months, and we’ve only been able to fully hang out once because of school and now the virus situation. It’s weird because I feel like I know him because we talk so much, but I haven’t been fully able to have very many conversations in person. I want to facetime him because it’s more personal than texting and it’s the closest I can get to being in person with him. I’m afraid to ask incase he doesn’t like facetime or will think it’s weird. How should I go about asking him without being rejected?

What is the issue with it feeling weird or being rejected? Most things outside our comfort zone feel weird, we are rejected in life more than we are accepted. Why not just speak your mind and see where that takes you? If he says no, why stress about him anyway? If he says yes you'll be wondering what all the worry was about.

Then gauge his reaction, if he seems into it then great, if not then say he doesn't have to or anything.

Also chill out, it takes way more than that to mess up an entire relationship, otherwise we'd all be single.

How about saying, hey the coronavirus thing has definitely turned things upside down it’s such a strange time to be alive. I just had an idea it wouldn't it be so cool to hang out on a video chat with each other to see how we are navigating this new normal of quarantine!
