How do I ask a guy I like if he’s involved with someone, in a tactful way?

It’s not always easy to determine if someone is single or not, and I’ve always been fairly forward. If this is someone that you see on a regular basis, I understand your desire to be tactful and perhaps not ruin the social relationship you may have. If it’s someone you actually know on a more personal level, you would know if they were dating.

Ah... see, modern people thought life would be less complicated if marriage was made less important but it's the opposite. Now there's 30 different possible relationship statuses and all of them matter cause if you're aiming for position #20, and somebody else is in #20 it's a problem. Lot easier if you could just look at a person's hand and see if there's a ring.

If you want to maintain a friendship and not risk it, ask him what he likes to do and who he likes to do it with. If there is no girlfriend mentioned, ask him if he wants to do something together.

Otherwise just ask him outright. If he is mature, he will tell you if he's with someone and it won't affect your relationship with him.

Find something to compliment him on and then add "I bet your girlfriend loves that you can do that." or something to that effect.
