I (22F) live in a big house with four roommates. The fourth one (25M) just moved in a few days ago. He’s very attractive and very charming. We FaceTimed as a group beforehand and there was some subtle flirting between us then. The first time I met him in person, I was entering the house after getting off work, and he was sitting on the couch reading. We formally introduced ourselves and got to know each other while sharing a bottle of wine. The flirting continued and he would keep finding reasons to touch/get closer to me. He suggested watching a movie together in my room but my room really only has my bed so I declined. That’s when we said goodnight and he hugged me and kissed my forehead. The next day (today) we had a house dinner. I was already pretty mentally exhausted from work so I spent a lot of time hanging out with our other roommate’s pet turtle. Then he walked over, complimented me on my dress and asked if he could feed the turtle too while being a little too close to me. I didn’t mind. The rest of our roommates must have thought something was up too because they kept glancing at both of us throughout dinner. I did end up going to bed pretty early though because my social battery was at 0, and he got up from where he was sitting and hugged me. I haven’t really made any advances compared to him but should I? I don’t want things to be weird in the house but I haven’t felt this attracted to anyone in a while. What do you guys think, should I have a summer fling with my new roommate?

I think you should continue to get to know him a bit. If you feel he's worth the risk, then I'd say go for it, but do it understanding it's a risk. Understand that if the relationship doesn't work it could make things awkward for you in the house and you have to be ready to deal with that without the expectation that he leave the house if it doesn't work. Barring any instances of abuse or assault, he will still have the right to be there and you'll have to be okay with that.

thank you. fortunately the lease ends in September so i'll be moved out soon. wish I followed your advice though instead of listening to my body. not that it was bad, I was just thinking about someone else the whole time and left feeling very empty
