Would you open the car door for your date, if so why?

My fiancé used to do that in the beginning of our relationship. I wasn’t buying it. I’m a woman not a kid, I can handle my doors. So I told him that I’m capable of doing it on my own. Since then I open / close my own doors. Unless I’m wearing fancy long dress and heels, then I would ask him to open the doors and help me to get out of the car cause I don’t want to mess up the dress.
I open doors for him if he can’t do that himself (in example his hands are holding smth heavy etc.)
Thank you. I don't like divas.
I dont like when people are overly nice. I dont need someone to open the car door or pull out my chair. But if you see me walking up behind you, hold the door long enough for me to catch it before you let go
Yes, as for the why, when going out if it happens to be new orleans the drainage is terrible so sometimes you park and there's a puddle of slime, so either grind up onto the curb, or open the door and give someone a hand out so they don't get the street goo all over their shoes/pants.
We have potholes that swallow cars down here and roads that just cave in at random. Mmm, subsidence.
When I dated, I always did (of course that was in the 60's and 70's).
Now, if there is a reason to help my wife get in the car, I will. If not, I typically don't. (sorry, hon)
If we have a female guest, I will typically help if I can get to the door first.

If it was an actual date, yes. I've done it many times. I'd feel like it was super rude to not open it on a date.
Open the door. Wait until she is fully seated. Make sure no clothing or anything else will get stuck in the door. Then close it. Ask her if everything is clear before closing it for bonus points.
Yeah, so that I could slam it closed on their hand.
Lol..
I was raised to open the car door for any and all women entering your vehicle, not just dates. Even the ugly chicks, lmao. Same principle as holding doors for people, etc. I’m starting to wonder if the custom is appreciated anymore though.
Fuck it yeah. And I’m holding open doors and pulling out seats. That’s the kind of man I am. I look out for the woman I’m with and show her respect.
I might, I think for me, it's just being polite.
I open the door for my mom so... It's something I think more natural than out of the way
Sure, after he opens the door for me and closes my door I'll get out and open the door for him and close his door. And then repeat.
I would yeah.
As for why? Well it's just the proper thing to do and it's just the kind of man I am it's how I was raised to be a proper man and gentleman.
One of the best things a guy can do to set myself apart
I always offer. If it’s my car she tends to accept. If it’s her own car she’ll often say “Thanks, but I got it.” Even feminists appreciate the offer. There’s an old saw about the thought that counts.
I really appreciate the man i am with. So I would do it. I will even buy him a drink. I like to pamper my man
I take the time to read the situation. For a formal date, I might. If we're just running to get groceries, probably not.
Only after the car is stopped.
Why: if it was me who brought the car, then it's my obligation to handle it; this includes the doors.
I would not mind if she does it herself, though.
Yes, I always opened doors for my dates. Because it's polite and shows interest and caring.
I have done that for a several guys. They were so surprised! Lol.
Sorry about the typo. ;)
I do it from time to time with my girlfriend, but not all the time.
If he doesn't open the door I'm not walking in it, very simple.
That kinda dude probably wants to go dutch or forgot his wallet too.
Yeah I would. I open doors and let people go through them before me regardless of who they are. It's nice to offer.
If it was my car I would. If it's his car no way I'm running out onto the street to open his door.
it's a way to show that you "care" about her.. and if you Don't care, then don't do it, she will find someone that does... don't worry
It it was on a formal date, or something, then yeah, I'd do it.
Simples...
I am the girl, and he better do it.
@CalmYourTits Or what? Not go out on any date? I think in this day of dating a girl would get pissed if he didn't open her door but would be turned on if he opened her legs at the end of that date. I have no words what has happened to the dating scene anymore.
@JuliaStyles No, I would not date a guy who didn't open the door for me.
@CalmYourTits: Then I don't get a chance with you. 😕
Oh the opportunities people miss because of the things they don't want to do.
I thought this only happened in the movies lol
No, I don't take my fleshlight out of my room.
Yeah. It's the right thing to do.
Is she helpless?
Yes and I have
For what?
Meant why open it for her?
No. I have a chauffeur for that.
Nah. She has hands
Very ridiculous
Nope fuck that
Chivalry?
