What's the maximum age gap for the relationship to work?

I'd say around ten years.
I know many couples who have around a ten years age gap and they do really well.
Meanwhile, more can be a challenge. My mother and my father have a 19 years age gap and I think it's one of they main reasons their relationship was so disastrated, and I noticed how better she had gotten in the time she was with a guy around her age.

I tend to have my age gap set to a maximum of 5 years older BUT 3 years younger became as you mature you tend to prefer older people who have around the same experience or at least have around the same maturity as you do. For me personally I would really say it is 5 years older and depending on my current age x years younger where my age minus the minimum age I desire equals x. As for ten years, I certainly would not want to date someone ten years younger than me right now but that may change as I get older and as for 10 years older I feel like those people tend to have more life experiences and tend to be more settled in their careers or at least managed to gather relevant job experience for what they want to do in the future then I am currently as a university student. Thats not a bad thing necessarily more time equals more experiences and more desire to be in a relationship with someone who complements your experiences, values, and personality.

I would say 10 to 15 is fairly common these days,

these days a lot depends on people outlook, fitness levels, security in regards to finance and health.

also 2nd marriages often throw up the odd quirk.

I have worked with a few guys at 45, that have a 25 yr old wife and kids.
One of the runs ultra marathons and runs his own private aircraft company ( although. At moment he is doing volunteer stuff).

Another is in a band, partner in a private equity company,

I think there needs to be a huge amount of other stuff than physical attraction to make these things work.

country and culture likely play in to it a huge amount as well.

I used to think it was black and white when I was younger but then again it was only bc you would see older men with younger women and it screamed patriarchy and also sometimes just looks 🤢 gross. Now it think it’s a bunch of factors it’s not so much the age gap too as the age sometimes. For instance a 30 (either gender) could be with a 50 year old and it would be fine but an 18 and a 38 year old is kinda gross bc 18 is so young. It’s not just about maturity to extent it is about looks or can be. I was with someone 12 years older and as we aged together I could not deal with the less attractive he looked. But to make it work I have seen a 42 year women be married to a 27 man, so a lot is possible. I don’t have a magic number.

I think about 20 years older is my max. 10 years is actually preferable for me, cause I don't really like dating guys in their early 20s. I'm really into older men, but I will admit, it does get creepy when he's old enough to be my dad. The other thing that makes me laugh is when these white-haired, dumpy 50+ yo guys who look like they've never touched a weight in their lives try to hit on girls my age. It's like, who are you kidding, grampa. Surprisingly, that ish happens all the time, too. One of my bfs actually beat down this one old guy who groped me at a bar when I was waiting for him. So, as a rule, if you have white hair, you shouldn't be trying to hit on girls who were in hs when you turned 50.

The unofficial rule in society is to never date outside "half your age plus seven." If you're 35, the youngest "you can date (without it being creepy)" is 24. Of course, this rule is modified a bit if you're 18-21.

I'm 34, but I relate the most to 22-30 year olds, as I feel more like 24 and I'm definitely not "established mature man" material, yet. Maybe by 40 or something, but not right now.

Also, "age is just a number (as long as you're both two consenting adults.)"If you're both happy, who cares?

My parents had 8 years and it didn't work. A lifetime of trauma from my mother's abusive mom, left her honestly kinda rebellious? She ended up turning out interesting... I know she's my mom but she's got issues. My dad was addicted to too many drugs and had 7 kids. They couldn't even stay together, ever... I just think they're weren't a correct fit and being 23 and dating a 31 year old with 7 kids sounds desperate.

You can find happiness at any age gap... but in my opinion, a gap of over two decades is just setting yourself up for being a widow/widower very early.

I prefer that my man is between 5 and 10 years older, but it is not a rule set in stone. I am open to dating outside of that age range, even younger than me, as long we are compatible and all of course.

I think 10 years max. But it depends on the person, really. My uncle and his wife have an age gap of 20 years. All she wants to do is go out, have fun, be adventurous and all he wants to do is chill at home (he was quite adventurous back in his time).
As for me, I love a man who's 9 years older than me and I think we fit like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

Yeah, 10 years, but that is pushing limits! I have dated a few, that are almost young enough to be my daughter, but they had "daddy issues" or "mentor" ideas. It worked, for a while, and was a lot of fun!

I think it depends how old they are later in life, you can usually go up a bit depending how old the younger one is, like a 30 and 40 year old couple or a 40 and 55 couple could work but the gaps can’t be as much if they are in a younger group so ten years is probably a good number

Younger - I'd probably say only about 3 years, mostly because of my current age. I don't know many guys younger than 25 who'd be looking for what I am in a relationship.
