So this girl whom found me physically attractive for 4+ years and we slept with each last week (lost my virginity) and told me she’s not ready for a relationship despite the fact she likes me.

This what she text me me last:

”I just wanted to say like I don’t know what I want right now and I'm still trying to figure it out, but I just wanted to make sure that you know I'm not ready or looking for anything permanent right now”

I’m not disheartened in any way because came out over 4 year unhappy relationship about 6 months ago and as for someone who’s never a girlfriend I just need to know if situations like this are common.

We knew each other for 4 years because she’s my future sister-in-law’s best friend and we only started talking less than 2 weeks. I know it would be reckless and irresponsible to rush into relationship so quickly.

This person knew they weren't interested in a serious relationship or a relationship of ANY kind before they slept with you! They just wanted some sex and this pathetic "I don't know what I want," bullshit line gets them off the hook.
If she would've told you that BEFORE you slept with her, there would've been NO SEX. Correct?
She's not a good person. You dodged a bullet.
There are many folks out there who will treat you better. Just move on.
