+1 yWhy would you be offended by the word "cute?" It means she thinks you're sweet and look nice/handsome.
I've called guys I'm attracted to cute as well! It's not an insult, you're not being "friendzoned," and it's not meant to make you feel bad. It's just another way of saying she likes you or how you look.
Basically don't read too much into it the compliment; it wasn't meant to upset you.154 Reply- +1 y
@MCheetah Huh, that is so odd. I never understood why that bothers some men, but when you put it that way, I kind of understand.
Most women aren't exactly going to call a man hot or sexy all the time. Cute just works as a compliment in most cases. So what do you guys want us to call y'all then? - +1 y
I gotcha. I'm going to try that from now on- I certainly have no problem calling a man good looking.
Though I might still slip and call someone cute occasionally... please don't hold that against me, lol. I promise I mean well guys!

I've also heard some girls/women say they are offended by being called cute. I guess the would rather be called beautiful. But, as far as I'm concerned, cute IS beautiful. I can think of no higher compliment.
When a girl says a guy is cute, she doesn't mean childlike or feminine. They can call handsome movie stars with mustaches and stubbly beards, even older ones, cute all day long. It means he is handsome or dreamy. He makes her melt. Would it be better to say ruggedly handsome, studly, macho?
Cute just sounds less formal, pretentious and intimidating. It sounds more intimate and affectionate.00 Reply
+1 yIf you are an adult man then how can the word cute offend you? Shouldn't you be adult enough to not let a tiny word that was a compliment bother you. If another guy called you cute then that would be a different story. If calling you cute from a lady that you are dating offends you then you might want to give her a list of words she should avoid as this will be a walk on egg shells type of relationship. The other fact is that you had to turn to others for their opinion, if YOU should be offended because a lady you are dating called you cute because you don't know if you should be offended or not.

Update: Seriously you need to get your masculinity in check. If you were a real grown ass man then you wouldn't be so closed minded about a word that was used to describe how a woman views you. There are NFL players that have been captured dressed up having a tea party with their daughters and yet when they step out onto the field, their masculinity didn't have to be checked because they are secure enough to enjoy life without being judged by society and all it's bullshit. For a grown ass man you seem to have a lot of growing up to do if you let one little word, puts you out but you aren't man enough to post under your actual name. Do you sweat buckets or hide in a dark corner while eating a hotdog? Ya know in case someone saw you and immediately thought you were gay because you are letting a piece of elongated meat enter your mouth.
I mean us girls aren’t that forward 😅 going straight for the “damn you’re hot asf!!” Is not in our dictionary, I mean shi not in mine at least. Cute is a very safe word that you can throw to anyone. Now if she used something like “damn, wow, gosh” shit like that then that’s when you know she was pleased with your appearance 😋

+1 y"CUTE" may have been an inopportune choice of words. 'Cute' in Western culture USUALLY means 'attractive in a non-threatening, non-sexual way' a kind of diplomatic 'friend-zoned'. Only time and her responses to your non-platonic courtship gestures will clarify HER perceptions of You.

+1 yLol wait, what? Are you associating it like she tried to effeminate you? Do you feel like your features are more chiseled and masculine? Did you want to be labeled as hot? It depends on what you wanted the context to be. She finds you attractive it’s not like she put a “kind of” on it.

+1 yI tell women that tell me I'm cute or beautiful, "Aww thanks I appreciate it. Now I know I'm being petty about this, but I do prefer being called handsome as I kind of feel cute and beautiful are more related to women. Hope you don't think less of me for that, haha." Or something along those lines, because in truth they are more feminine terms than handsome.
00 Reply When I say a guy is cute, it means he’s very attractive! Cute is the only word I even use when describing a guy who’s super attractive. How in the world could that be offensive? This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard.

+1 yNo, it's just a word. I'll be honest for me I'd be weirded out more if someone called me handsome rather than cute. Handsome is what a spouse or parent or extended family calls you, they don't call you cute unless you're a kid which I find most weird.

After the update: you're free to take it how I like, but I'd think of it as simply as... "She likes/appreciates what I'm wearing, doing, saying or how I look/act in general in a way that may mean I seem youthful, sweet, or polite." Probably not how you took it, if she knew it may offend you she would have used a different word, please don't be like me and take the compliment even if you don't understand it, it's polite and attractive.

+1 yThat's what girls say. Time to get over yourself.
Wait till she tells you your dick is cute, and how much she loves it. LOL
They'll also ask you how they FEEL - cuz that's what THEY do. It's projecting. Guys just don't have all those feelings in the first place. It is ALWAYS and ALL about the FEELZ.00 Reply I consider "cute" to be a compliment, & applicable to either gender.
Preferable to "You fell out of the ugly-tree & hit every branch on the way down!" wouldn't you agree?30 ReplyBeing offended by the word 'cute' is why we prefer older men more often than not.

As if women respond beautifully to backhanded compliments.
"Gee, @myname604, you're a lot less fat than I thought you'd be! ... What, it's a compliment! Stop being so fuckin' immature." - +1 y
@MCheetah
Exactly. A guy compliments a woman then the woman responds by charging the guy with sexual harassment and/or rape over nothing.

My friend used to get irritated with me when I called him cute.
It's a compliment.

+1 yI was never told that he didn't like it, if you're not comfortable with that word, just gotta tell her, how it makes you feel. She is not trying to make you feel uncomfortable. You are good looking to her.
10 ReplyIt depends on the individual. Me, I'd personally be offended by that. I wouldn't want to be with someone who compares me to something like a bunny rabbit. However, I think some other guys wouldn't care.
00 ReplyNo, understand that lingo for women and men when it comes to expressing oneself are completely different, so just cause cute means one thing to you does not mean that it means the same thing to them.
10 ReplyI usually think to myself, “that guy is cute” when I see a guy who is good looking/handsome/hot. I genuinely don’t think he’s cute like a bunny, puppy, etc. She probably thinks the same way.

Re Update: straight women don't want to be with a guy who is more emotional than they are. No matter what they say, it's just not so. Yes, there's a time for you to get emotional but pick your battles and make sure there's always a constructive point. Not just a wild/"it feels good to express this" reason.
I dunno if anyone has asked. But what is it about her saying that your cute that rubs you up the wrong way?

Like I said she basically said you have a baby penis... I'm only saying this to prove a point. Bruh like you said you're a grown-ass man. So how the fuck are you going to take a compliment out of context and make you all offended and emasculated. I don't know a man any real ass men that would be so offended as much as you seem. I know I've served overseas with them real Men and WoMen. I have to keep it real because I feel like this is a problem. It's a problem because it seems like people are going out of their way to be offended. Offended by some silly ass shit too. We turn compliments into attacks. Take a word meant to be positive and look for the ugly in it. Look my brother your dick is still there right. Your balls didn't shrivel up right? Everything but your ego stayed the same after hearing that 4 letter word right. Ok then let me let you know that you can still identify as a man. Even if the shit was gone you could still identify yourself as a man ok. Now you have to act like one. I'm not blaming you I'm not even mad at you but I have to point it out because a lot of people sacrificed their lives to make a difference and it seems like people can't even hear the positive. Thank you for having the courage to post that question. At least you are open to discuss it. I know I git carried away but it was more meant for the people out there lurking not willing to even communicate or discuss how they feel.
+1 yDon't be offended because her say you (cute)
