Show interest, maybe pursue a little bit, but make sure he's doing some of the work, otherwise he'll recognize that you like him too much and he may take advantage

I've found that men are more likely to take advantage of a girl if she chased him.

In general yes. But socially, any man that is used for sex can proudly say he got laid. Women that are used for sex are viewed with a myriad of silly adjectives.
