Do I have to cut off all contact in order to let go?

I feel like I need to move on from this guy who is also my friend, do I cut off all contact or should I talk to him first?

If you are seeing that he is not somebody you personally want, you have to let him go and let him know that. Because if you just cut of contact and your not ready that can impact you for a very long time and how you react, respond and choosing to reconnect with others in the future. You only cut when you are absolutely certain there is nothing between you and that person. And that includes others.

When dating, it is the same. But you have to provide the closure for yourself, and if able the person and not have the person try to convince you to stay if there isn't anything to hold on to.

In a marriage, obviously you don't just do this unless marriage vows were broken. However, I suggest talking out, and see what is going on. You need to properly communicate, not hash out because again, it can impact you for LIFE. And how you choose and not to relate with others.
