Yes. Because a lot of short people, especially men deal with a lot of heartaches just for being short. Short men tend to be more sensitive than taller ones from what I saw. though a much taller guy is also on par with a shorter male. Simply put, it is less about height, and more to do with how sensitive the person is. We sensitive people deal with more hell than others who aren't. From personal experience, it is highly possible, besides loss of quality of life.

I would tend to think of this as a coincidence if true. But... a lot of women do seem to care a lot about height in guys, so a lot of self esteem issues could result from it (and something he has no control over). But guys usually don't focus on height like women do.

I might be inclined to agree with you if the correlation was weak or the sample size is small. However this doesn't appear to be the case.

I would be inclined to think that the correlation comes from bad nutrition, which is associated with growth and depression, however the study is of Scandinavian men, so that's unlikely.

I'm assuming the article and study is correct, and that's exactly what the article says in the words, "There was a strong inverse association..."

Another thing I've noticed in my 22 year career as a teacher is that smaller kids *do* get bullied more (and Goodall noticed this in other primates, too). And smaller kids tend to grow up into smaller adults. And the effects on childhood bullying are well documented and can carry over into adulthood.
