That's funny. When I call my wife at her work, she usually says "Hey, babe." She did it so often that a guy she works with thought my name was Babe.
I usually call her Sweet Heart or Sweetie, sometimes Babe or Baby (pronounced like bybuh or baybuh). If I'm being cute, I might even call her Pumpkin or whatever else comes to mind.

It seems kind of formal to call your significant other by their actual name all the time. It's okay to have affectionate nicknames for each other.

The last girlfriend I had before I met my wife was named Petra. I loved her deeply and she loved me. We virtually lived together for over a year before we separated for reasons that are complicated but had nothing to do with cheating or anything mean.
My nickname for her was Peaches.
