Where do you see a lot of this going on? Can you give a specific example? Just curious as to what's happened.

First time was 8 years ago. In my dating profile I put that I was a Republican. The girl I went on a date with was a Democrat but she didn’t say much about it. She was very attractive and I was on my A game that night. Went in for a kiss early and it was going well. But later in the night she started putting me on the spot with stupid ass questions about gay rights and other crap. I changed the subject.

She ended up staying over but I didn’t touch home plate. I just got this bad gut feeling she was the radical liberal types that believes “regret is rape” so I didn’t push it.

That was the first experience. But when gay marriage was a thing, then Trump, then BLM and then this and then that I noticed more and more women bring this bullshit up and they bring it up early. If their attractive I’ll change the subject. If their not that attractive I’ll ask questions and tactfully disagree.

I had one (grown ass 31 year old) woman say she had to use the bathroom and then ditched me after I admitted I voted for Trump. Of course she brought it up first.

It’s one thing if this happens sporadically but I notice it’s more and more common

I'm a very political person and usually know the man's political views before ever agreeing to go out with them. I do not want to be wasting my time because if our views don't align there isn't much of a chance for a happy relationship.

Hate Trump all you want but can you tell me with a straight face that Biden’s policy has been better than Trumps for America? Most people give an automatic knee jerk reaction about hating Trump. But seriously can you tell me without a doubt that Biden is doing a better job when it comes to the economy, the border, international crisis (Afghanistan), national security, etc?

I don't vote. for religious reasons and I view it all as one party. I can say that the economy grew by 1.6 percent in the first three months of 2021. Afghanistan was just as much as Trump's mess - he made the deal. Biden is better than Trump... that's a fact... to what degree? that's up for debate... not exactly a high bar.

@Sabretooth I’m not a huge Trump fan. But I have regrets voting for him twice because he is the only thing that is standing in the way of the radical left which Biden is getting completely controlled by.

I’ve had some guys bring this up first date which doesn’t usually end too well and I usually won’t bother to go on a second date if I don’t like most of your views. I’m a social worker soooo like basic human rights I agree with and much more.

If they bring it first I agree that’s completely inappropriate. Especially on a first date. Its a red flag about their personality and what they fixate on.

However if this comes up later I recommend that you take a deep breath (if you like him for other reasons) and ask him why he has these views and make an honest attempt to understand his background. Ask him about his experiences, his upbringing and how sees politics impacting his personal life.

One of the best relationships I had in my life was with a girl who was a moderate liberal and I’m a moderate conservative. We got in deep debates (debates are not the same as arguments) about our views and occasionally I changed her viewpoints and her vice versa.

I remember her giving me a theory that homosexuality exists as mother nature’s way to keep the population down. That really gave me pause because I had never heard that theory before. True or false it was practical. Up to that point I always thought that homosexual behavior was a personal decision. I also gave her alternative viewpoints about abortion that she never thought of.

But this was back in 2013 before society went bat shit crazy. People could actually get along better back then. Don’t be so quick to judge. Also don’t be so quick to trust if the guy automatically agrees with everything you say about politics. He might be doing that just because he just wants a quickie. Unless you are okay with that then it’s a red flag.

While I’m pro life I am also very pro birth control (and i support state sponsored contraceptive programs). I basically am all for doing anything to prevent white from meeting red. But once the woman is pregnant that’s where I draw the line.

You know some of the best conversations I have ever had in my life were with people I can respectfully disagree with. This includes a girl I seriously dated a few years ago (before the world went bat shit crazy). She forced me to think harder on some of my viewpoints and vice versa. It was a necessary counter balance to become a better informed person.

You can date whosever you want. But just realize if you choose to live in an echo chamber you can be self ignorance. You should be focused on WHAT is right vs. BEING right.

Politics and morals aren't the same thing. They may intersect in places, but you can't just substitute one for the other and not expect to get called up on it. You should be able to get a sense of someone's morality without dragging them kicking and screaming into political debates. They could be telling you "oh i think politicians should give homes to the homeless and we should save the whales", but meanwhile he's treating the wait staff like they're some garbage stuck on his shoe. People's morals are more readily evidenced in the small day-to-day interactions than in any single proclamation of political belief.
