Kind of Seeing Someone: One or both of you believes that your "relationship" is nothing more than casual. There is no obligation to commit to dates or seeing each other on the regular. You hang when you hang and neither of you has had any sort of lets define what our relationship is conversation with each other. You might call this person to go to the bar, but you'd never consider bringing them home to meet your family.

Seeing Someone: You have said the words "we're in a relationship" or you act like it. If you make plans together, you expect the other to show up. You also honor whatever exclusivity agreement you have with one another.

“Seeing someone” means that you’re exclusive and you’re a couple.

If I’m “kind of seeing someone,” I don’t view our “relationship” as an actual relationship.
