maybe the only similarity is that in both cases it's a sad situation.. Other than that, no similarities. you can break someone's heart without cheating, you can break a heart without intention.. whereas you can't cheat without intention.. the intent is always there.. it's a decision you make, you can't cheat without hurting someone... because even when 'maybe' your partner doesn't feel strong feeling for you anymore, it still hurts to get cheated on. cheating is always with intent, and breaking a heart doesn't always mean it's with intent.

Heartbreak can be a direct result from cheating when he/she finds out. Both are feelings. Cheating is being selfish, the sexual act itself feeling good. Breaking a heart is the direct opposite of feeling good.
There are a myriad of perspectives I can entertain on this one, but almost always these two go hand in hand.

It's one way to do it, probably the worst way to break a heart.
If you just break up you can still talk and possibly get back together one day, but cheating has an element of betrayal and disrespect. The trust is gone and the damage is done.

It depends. And it depends on the person.
Someone could not cheat in the traditional sense but get out of a relationship then immediately get into another relationship to make it seem like it doesn't count as cheating. It's a complex question with complex answers. Depends on definitions of love and cheating and heart break, too.

Breaking a heart sucks, but it can be done honestly. Preserve your dignity and still show respect for the other person involved and what not. Cheating is inherently dishonest and disrespectful. If you are going to break up with someone, be an adult and do it. If you cheat you are a disrespectful and dishonest person. Period.

There is. When you cheat, you're betraying your partner's trust. When your partner finds out because they always do, in one way or another, their heart breaks.
