There was a girl in college who never approached me directly but would put notes under my door and leave like Arizona Tea outside my room. 3 years of that and we hadn’t even talked at all and eventually she just asked if it bothered me and I said Yes and she avoided me like a malevolent plague

nope... the interest was mutual and we liked each other

as for the girls who had an interest on me and I didn't feel quite the same as they did... I just didn't lead them on, and they did not insist either
