Why seek approval extrinsically? Take stock but not principal from the opinions of others. People come and go, but you must live with yourself all the time. You are under no obligation to make sense to others nor do you require their approval. As long as you are both happy then it really doesn't matter what others think. It's not important that others like you or approve of you, it is important that they do right by you! If you are happy and approve of it, then that is all.

Honestly, relationship has more serious challenges than age gap. It could be one's personality, financial issue, kids or not, and many more.

As long as you two could work it out, why not. People might look at you differently at first, and that's normal, as long as they don't act or say anything disrespectful.

As far as age difference, you're both adults and doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, whether they agree or not. My advice as someone that's been there, and ideally this would be the case before you developed feelings for him, hopefully you've talked and BOTH feel the same way and are on the same page relationship wise. If not, better do that ASAP, especially now that you have feelings. But you also want to look at lifestyles and future relationship goals (such as wanting children, marriage etc). You want to do this with anyone, but especially important with age differences like this. Don't get consumed with your feelings only (I think women do sometimes), keep your head on the ground and look at this realistically.

Whatever works, I'd personally be weirded out if I dated someone with an age gap that large because I'd be old enough/young enough to have been their parent or son, but at the same time I can't relate to most people over 25, let alone most women, So I'm left with no one at this point, and so I can understand why someone would snip age restrictions out just to relate to someone.
