It's like the tortoise and the hare 🐇 🐢 story. Things like marriage aren't a race, it is a marathon you prepare for and build towards over time if that's what both people want. For some people marriage can be the end goal and that's where communication is important and being on the same page. I think being a couple for 2-3 years minimum before getting engaged and being engaged for maybe 6 months to 1 year and then getting married is a reasonable timeline. So 2.5 years together minimum before tying the knot. Personally, for me 2.5 years is still too fast for me but for a different couple that might be fine and it's the minimum amount of time I think to really develop a romantic relationship and really know each other in that level before getting married. I don't think people should get married until at least 21-Years-Old rather than 18 either. 18 Does seem too young, or maybe even older, around 25 or something. Every relationship and dynamic is different though and I respect that. I wish with my ex boyfriend almost 4 years and thought him and I would get engaged or married eventually and we were on the same oage with a lot but it wasn't meant to be. We broke up not on bad terms though and it's life experience. I've been single about several months now and I know eventually when I actually commit and get serious with another guy when the time happens that I'd like him and I to have an end goal of marriage and communicate but I'd want at least 3-4 years together before marriage, personally. I just don't think it's something to rush. I'm only 23yo atm and I'm content with not rushing.
A little of both, if you find the right person. I see no reason to drag it out over years... I don't see how being together, 2 or 5 or even 10 years first is going to ensure it will work out.
I've known people who got engaged after 3 months, married 3 months later and been married for decades. I've known people who dated for years, engaged for years and got divorced within a couple of years of being married.
Time seems unimportant, combability and how well you work together and compromise and get along are far more important. That is something you should be able to figure out in several months, shouldn't take years.
Nothing takes the fun out of life more than feeling like you need to rush threw an arbitrary list of socially enforsed milestones!
Life is fun when you accept the uncontrollable randomness of it all! Take your time and enjoy the world around you! Tunnel vision on goals can remove the fun of chasing them 😊🥰
Really depends. I’m someone who one day hopes to be financially stable (my family is very poor) and I also want to be in love. I don’t know which one should come first. But if I met a guy I fell hard for even if it was fast and my plans weren’t in place yet I would go for it. I just need to know that I know him well. So I feel like it depends on how well you know them, or how well you THINK you do :)
You should get to know about each others, before a lifetime commitment... believes, views, expectations, interests and priorities should be discussed, agreed and respected by both parties... ir else it's all up to luck!
I’m done with the fast stuff. It never works out and I really want something real, which it seems like being friends would be more likely the route to get what I’ve always wanted and dreamed of
obviously first one
people ended up getting hurt in relationships because they are too impatient
I’ve seen both work but the fast is more risky. Someone can hide who they truly are for a short period of time but it’s hard for someone to hide their negative qualities for longer than a year.
I just want some fast sex, lol.
Not remotely interested in marriage
Until the courts change, I'll take my time.
no idea
takes time is better
