Every person has something they want in a relationship and a reason to be in one.
Some just don't want to be alone, some are searching for love, some for status, some for money, etc.

Personally, if I'm going to be in another relationship, it's because I want to spend my time with that person, because of love and compatibility and such.

I'm sure others have their own reasons to be in a relationship.
So it's about learning about the people you date and what they want in a relationship and what you want.

Money will usually attract people looking for money.
I was never rich so I knew my partners were with me because they enjoyed spending time together.
I do have a friend who used his money and status to get a wife, but she tells me that he's an asshole and I think she purposely brings him big bottles of whiskey hoping he will drink himself to death soon.
