My dating life has been kind of shit lately, and I think it’s because I try to rush things now. In college, and high school, I was friends with my girlfriends before dating them. Just want to know everyone’s take.

I prefer friends first. I think it's pretty important to be able to be friends with your partner if you want to last.
You also get to know the person better and more real than if you jump into dating first.

You just have to find the right balance as to when you ask the person out.
But if you befriend someone just to date them, and they don't intend to date, that's an issue.

But get to know someone first, build a foundation, and if feelings arise, ask them out. That's what I would prefer.

Absolutely, friends first. Gotta build that trust first, feel more comfortable before going any further. I've found that it works rather well in relationships. Why have sex with someone who might ghost you the next day?
