+1 yIts good to meet them in person and get to know them that way, people can be very different without the filter and shield of a computer screen in front of them.
Video calls don't count either, deep faking is terrifyingly easy, and again, there is a disconnect from real face to face contact.
As for the idea of sin and temptation, I personally don't believe premarital sex is a sin, granted, I don't think its a great idea either. But if you do, thats cool too, everyone is entitled to their own boundaries. If you think the temptation would be too great, you could set up rules beforehand, and if they respect you, they would honor them. The real issue is your willpower. Don't get me wrong, everyone is tempted to do things like that, and its okay to give in to it, as long as they understand the possible consequences of their actions (I'm mainly talking about pregnancy and STDs, but it also applies to breaking their own boundaries).
I feel like a better solution would be to go on dates, and just make sure that you keep yourself in check, and if you feel like the relationship has reached the point of trust for sexual intimacy, then go for it. An all loving, all powerful, all knowing, and all forgiving God would not care (look up the Epicurian Trillema and Omnibenevolence, it'll explain more)
Whatever you choose, make sure that your partner knows exactly what you do and don't want, and exactly how far you're willing to go with things, remember, communication is key in relationships.00 Reply

+1 yThere is a reality show called Married at First site and this is to me just two steps above that. One step above would be seeing someone's profile and then marrying them. Two steps above is having an online conversation then marrying them. You go from talking online then skipping meeting to see if you want to be with them, the relationship phase, the engagement phase and going to the marriage phase.
You miss out on body language, tone of voice, going doing things together and seeing how they are in different situations, cooking for each other, seeing how each other lives etc.00 Reply
+1 yI would never date or marry someone just based on online conversation... If I don't personally know/meet them/spend real time with them, then how would I know that's someone I want to date much less marry 🤷🏼♀️

I think it depends on your level of trust with that person. If you don't know them you can always talk with them and learn more about them. 😃

+1 yThe issue with online dating is that person might be using the internet to try and impress you and act a certain way. In person they put the technology down and have a real conversation. A video chat would be better than text. In person you can see behavior, learn about what they spend their time and resources on. It is important also not put oneself in a position where those temptations could arise, when two people are in love the temptation can be very strong. If each person has a car to drive themselves to a public setting, then each can do what needs to be done to ensure that it remains public. You can volunteer together an church or charity events. I think the biggest thing would be to draw the line that each person is not visiting each others home or private setting. The author of a book only shares what they want the public to read, to learn about them behind the scenes there are more details that unfold when it allows use of all the human senses.
20 ReplyPeople are different online to what they're like in real life. For instance, I'm much better IRL than online so I find online dating really difficult. I think you have to have real in person dates to actually get to know a person, like seeing how they treat other people such as waiting staff is usually a good indicator for me.

I agree with you, as my opinion is that texting might not be truthful some times but in real life you see a pure person's reaction
Premarital sex is now a sin? Lady , you dont live in the 17th century anymore. Premaritial sex is everywhere. Everyone has premarital sex. I dont know why people on here still think its still the 1950s
20 Reply569 opinions shared on Dating topic. Sometimes even dating alone is not enough to ascertain if a person is right for you, so I'm not sure if an online interaction alone is sufficient. How can you be so sure that the person you are conversing to online is really the person he is?
00 ReplyHow can you vet them on being abusers, having a darker side that comes after they are comfortable, being rather dirty and lazy, hanging around shady people. This is a bad, bad idea
00 ReplyI'm not going to look for a partner online, because I want to get away from cyberspace a bit and want to find a real partner, who meets every day rather than chatting on the phone every day

+1 ySo, you are unable to maintain self control? Jesus emulated this example when he himself was tempted. But he resisted. As followers, can we not do the same?

+1 yI respect your views JB, but I don't agree with them. I would never marry someone before finding out if we were sexually matched.
00 Reply I'm not intending to get married as such so. That is I want a proper relationship just not marriage. I'm not Christian and would reject the no sex before marriage type of date though I'm not expecting to do anything physical right away.
00 ReplyIf I talked with her about all the important topics then dating can be skipped.

+1 yThat's a terrible idea, sis. You're going to be stuck with someone who is going to make your life hell for 40 to 50 years.
You can't get married without dating.02 Reply- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs
Their is a thing called divorce so who us to say they are stuck with someone for 40 or 50 years. Who says you can't get married without dating? To me it's more like you shouldn't. - +1 y
@MysteriousDarkness Divorce should only be used in extreme circumstances. It's better to be wise and not marry someone than to rush into a marriage and get divorced later because you were too stupid to heed the warning signs.

10 ReplyNo, an online conversation won't give me anything of the sort.

So you are of the people who prefer real contact instead of online converastion?
- +1 y
@random_girl95 I don't mind how the conversation is. But an online conversation won't make me catch feelings, and thinking of marriage without ever going on an actual date seems crazy to me.

Marriage exclusively from online discussion is out of the question for sure

@random_girl95 The furthest I've gotten online is make some real good friends.

I don’t mean two strangers getting married what I mean is the communication should be done in a way where physical sin does not happen.
- +1 y
Well if you can find someone who's okay with that, by all means go ahead. But be ready for the worst. "God" bless you!
