How do I respond to a rejection text?

So there's this girl I went on a date with a while ago but ended up going home and not seeing her for months but then I came back to school. I saw her once by coincidence and a week later reached out to her and asked her to go out for lunch. She responded saying "I'm actually dating someone right now, but I appreciate the thought and offer! I hope classes and life is going well for you :)".
Of course that hurt a lot, but my main question however is what to respond as I feel it is only mature to reply something back. What are some suggestions?

Some ideas I have to include are "Thank you for your honesty", "He's really lucky", "I hope the same for you", etc.

I wouldn't refer to it as "rejection". That is a bit of a strong word to use. My response to her would probably be something like, "Classes are going well. Glad to hear back from you." You might throw in, "I wish you well with the guy who you are dating" as long as it doesn't sound too serious. My suggestion would be to keep it "light". Just my two cents... LOL

If you hadn't heard from her for months you already got your rejection, you should have expected this. I wouldn't reply at all. There is nothing more to say.

She doesn’t deserve the curtesy. You weren’t “good enough” for her... so prove to her that you don’t give a fuck and become the person she wishes she had.

If she then decides “she always liked you”... tell her that she isn’t your type, “but I appreciate the thought and offer! I hope classes and life is going well for you :)"

You did not show any interest in her so she found somebody else. That is on you. You really do not need to respond. You can just say "okay, later then." and leave it at that.
