Would you learn another language just to ask someone out?

I met someone out of the blue and I swear I fell in love instantly. The problem was, she spoke a different language and couldn't understand a thing I said without a mutual friend to be translator.

So, I decided to get a tutor and my progress is going on 4 months now. I'm fluent enough to ask her out and hold a very basic conversation. But still have a ways to go...

The problem... im having doubts asking her out now. She has been with a guy for a couple weeks... who she can easily communicate with and from the same country as her. He seems like a nice enough person... should I still ask her, even if i know their dating?

How so? Even if it didn't work out I'm still bilingual.

I think it could be kind of creepy... "hey, I just spent 9 long months studying every single day, just so I could ask you out"

because, there will come a time in which they ask how or why did you learn their language... would you lie about it then?

I don't see your logic. People learn new languages for no reason at all... seeing it as absurd is beyond me.

Okay, I'll elaborate. Yes, some people learn languages even as a hobby and that's fine, if it's to travel and be able to communicate with people in another country, perfect! However, if it's for something like asking someone out, it's better to save oneself time and using it in anything else. Also, there might be more than one culture shock if the person proceeded and had success at first.
