Trending & News I would like to say it also depends on the type of depression. Is it just normal depression that everyone goes through, is it major depressive disorder where it happens frequently, or is it Bipolar disorder depression, and if it's bipolar depression is it bipolar I, II, or cyclothymia?
The only reason I bring this up is because I have Bipolar II disorder as well as PTSD, and anxiety. My depression can be such a black hole I will sit by myself for days on end. Once it passes I'll fly through the roof with positivity, and can do spirit till I wear everyone around me out. Then I crash into depression again lol. It's a vicious cycle and I go through it day after day, month after month, and year after year. I don't expect anyone to ever tolerate the way my moods go up and down, and if I'm being honest I don't think I could date anyone above cyclothymia because the swings are so drastic, but I will date someone with milder forms of it.
To be perfectly honest why wouldn't I? I would hope that I could bring her out of her depression and back to life. 😉😁
I have a history of depression so I know, personally, dating someone with depression as well might not impact me very well. It might be too triggering. I cannot have someone drag me down with their energy more than I already try to keep myself from doing to myself.
Otherwise, depression has many different manifestations. A person with depression might end up being the most caring person you have ever met and it might be worth it. Sometimes it is very difficult to be their loved one, if the person is clinically depressed.
hell yeah, since Im have my moments of depression but it would depend on what level they're at. What I mean by that is, whether they now how to handle it when it presents itself or still in the stage being in denial that they actually have it etc. That piece is important.

In all likelihood, I know Im not going to make things worse, and having a history of depression myself I can help her through it.
Depression is a shitty time, When I had it bad sometimes all I wanted was a bedmate to talk to. And that particular feeling of being wanted is a huge healing factor.
If you date someone with depression, its important not to become their crutch, the depression has to be solved otherwise you leaving can be a be a catalyst for self harm.
If you have depression, you owe it to yourself and the people who love you, or will love you in the future to address it. Fight tooth and nail to kill it. Exercise, nutrition, medication, supplements, positive people.
Would be a hypocrite not to. Though I will say it does depend on severity always, some people are far to depressed for a relationship.
You see I am depressed but I don't let it effect my personality of having things to talk about, been funny, having passions etc.
But some depressed people become to deep without been able to enjoy or do such things that will lead to them honestly making you depressed with them. Or them just feeling distant from you 24/7 which.. of course ain't good.
depends on the kind of depression i guess? if they were working to get better (well as better as you could get with something as serious as depression), wouldn't want to be with someone who stays really... flimsy?
No, having done, I’d advise anyone to avoid it, not least because they often suffer from additional mrntal illnesses ( the one I dated also had anxiety and BPD).
Depression is one of the great evils of the modern age we live in. But it is a curable and surmountable disease, since it seems like every one has at least a period of depression in his life.
I would,
Everybody is human and no one is perfect. If y
I really want to be with a person I’ll help them through it the best I can.
Can you please answer my most recent question?
Yea they need someone to love them. As long as they were good to me. I would try and make her feel better
Because they have issues they need to work on otherwise they won't be happy in the relationship. If it's general depression like sad about a death that's different.
Start?
Hell no.
Already in it? Help them get help.
Can't save a drowning man without a life preserver.
You need outside help.
Absolute must.
Only if they were actively seeking to resolve their issue and move on,
What does that even mean?
You know some of us are in counseling for years and years and on and off different medications. Are we actively seeking to resolve it, and if not what time limit do you put on a person to resolve their mental illness?
As someone clinically depressed, we’re usually overly sensitive and very loyal. Which if you can handle, can be a big plus.
Depressed who are untreated can be a big hassle tho.
If she told me she had "depression issues". I would take that as my cue to exit. It's nothing personal. But "HERE'S YOUR SIGN"! Hello! Huge red flag.
So long as I see she wants to stop being depressed and lets me help her.
Sure. Then I'd have someone to be miserable with. Or maybe we could help each other 🤷♂️
Yes I would support her if I loved her we all go through hardships in life. I would be positive and help her the best that I could
depressed when i meet them? no.
depressed after we've been seeing each other for awhile? for awhile.
depressed all the damn time? hell no.
I have Dissociative Identity Disorder, if they can put up with me I can put up with them. I honestly have never dated someone who wasn't mentally ill.
It is a dependent as it depends on how it affects them and also if they are doing something about it.
There are so many different factors to take into account. So I can't say yes or no but maybe. It isn't in itself a reaasoto. Not date.
I’ve never been told this but I feel like I am depressed
As a depressed person myself, I wouldn’t. I feel that dating while you are depressed creates codependency. I’ll start to depend on someone else for my false sense of happiness and it’s stressful for thd other person I imagine
She would probably understand my mental state more than a neurotypical might.
Because people are human and this could actually help that person! 😊
With Joe Biden in office how can anyone not be depressed.
Yes because I been depressed and it's hard and try to support them hope they get help
Yeah plenty of reason in this world to be depressed so it's understandable
Yes! Let's be cynical and bitter together! 💓
Yes, we could be depressed together.
Absolutely not. I tried that once and it sucked.
No, that's a bad idea.
yeah, if they are under treatment
Are you depressed? I would date you.
No
His mode will spread to you definitely
Yes, i would try to help her
Depends at what extent.
Don't mind since I am too xD
I'd rather not
Probs not lol
No thanks.
