Man this is a hard one
Nurses are extremely thoughtful about amazingly caring..
But they give so much to others that I now from experience none will be left for me kind sad but true.
Doctors are amazingly analytical and very pragmatic they will put there whole selves into there job and there relationship.
But kinda self centered and unless I was extremely successful would likely resent me because I’m a man not making 6 figures or not as highly educated.
I’ve worked in the medical field and dated both so I already know I’m not good enough for both

Please don't think of yourself in this way, perhaps it was just those women not all medical professionals are of their opinions. Which of your girlfriends had a better work life balance I'm trying to figure out which career is better as I love caring for babies but I also love the diagnostic and surgical side of medicine. I do want a family of my own as well. I'm just not sure which career to peruse long term.

Nicu is always hiring and usually does 9-10 hours a day average. I f you work weekend nights you’ll make bank and work 35 -40 hours every 3-4 so you’ll probably get more personal time but less time with friends.

If you go the Doctor route definitely not going to have much work life balance until you get into family medicine

Surgical rotation is pretty heavy and I’m not sure how to tell you it doesn’t end lol

Md internist is definitely best case scenario in my opinion not a lot of money but still more than enough better chances of your own practice and your own hours good work like balance.
And if you don’t hack in school I think you can still transfer into a physicians assistant at some point and that’s a hook up in itself

Just my opinion here somebody might be able to give you better information regarding your options

It depends on what kind of doctor. A dermatologist or pediatrician would have a reasonable work schedule, but oncologists and many surgeons not so much. Pediatricians also tend to be good with kids. Veterinarians are cool and have decent work schedules. Nurses are fine as well.

If she was a bitch, neither. I’m finding a lot of women in health care tend to be dehumanized, desensitized, and just pissed off from all the pissed off patients and coworkers they’re dealing with these days. And it’s taking a toll on the quality of their work.

People working in the medical field are super busy and tired in my experience. Doctors can make money without serving patients. Nurses have to be on site to make money. Depending on the doctor, I imagine the doctor wife to be less stressed than nurses.

Because neonatal nursing, is the only form of nursing I enjoy. Where as medicine, is a field in which I enjoy all aspects.
