Why is it ok for women to say “when I first met my boyfriend I wasn’t very attracted to him but my feelings grew” but very insulting vice versa?

My own mother once told me that she wasn’t that attracted to my father when she first met him. She went out on a date with him just to do something and to get out of the house. However she fell in love with him as she got to know him better.

However if a guy said the exact same thing about his girlfriend or wife it would be considered very insulting. Like we are always expected to be in love at first sight or something?

I think... that's insulting for anyone to say about their significant other.

I’ve heard it more than once. At the time I heard it from my mother I (wrongly) assumed it was okay for women to say such a thing.

Actually makes me very angry now.

Well if it makes you feel any better, I would imagine your mother didn't INTEND to be insulting. It's a poorly (insultingly) worded version of "I was attracted to your father more and more as I got to know him better. It's just... a bad way to say it. 🙂

Well I won’t get to far in the family deep end. But I figured out quite a while ago my dad loved my mother a lot more than my mom loved my father. Not to say she doesn’t love him. They have married for 40 years. But still she often treated him like sh*t. Not a good role model.

I'm sorry to hear that. At least you seem to be aware of some of your parents mistakes. Hopefully that can help you to avoid anything along the same lines in your own life 🙂

It brainwashed me to kiss women’s asses and tolerate more disrespect from them than I should when I was younger (and later painfully unlearn nice guy behavior).

It also made me terrified of being married to someone like that. But she got away with it because she was beautiful.

Anyway that’s probably more than you probably care to read. But just saying.

This is how you tell if a woman is immature or a quality woman believe it or not. Shallow selfish women think strongly this way. It's also NOT SURPRISING why these are the women that find themselves cheated on. Because these are the type of women that think their physical beauty is the sole draw for men. It's insecurity plain and simple.
