How do I get my boyfriend of 4 months to communicate with me better and open up?

Some people just naturally aren't open. Some people build walls after failed relationships. No offense but it's safe to say at your age your boyfriend has been through a serious relationship or two. He may have walls up to protect his heart after past failures. Don't focus on getting him to open up. Focus on being the best girlfriend you can be and he'll open up when he feels ready. Make sure when you are talking to him you are leaving him the opportunity to open up. Ask questions. Show interest. Be a good listener when he does speak. Open up to him. Relate to him when he speaks. Most guys aren't big into talking about their past or their emotions unless they have absolute trust in you and believe you are worth opening up to. The only way to get there is to build that trust.

Start opening up to him first. When you do talk make sure to start the sentence with “I feel” statements, so like: “I feel sad bc blablabla”. 4 months is still pretty new for a relationship so he might just not feel ready enough to open up just yet, give him some more time 😊
