Are these red flags?

I agreed to go on a date with this guy (29m) even though I (26f) wasn't really into him, as I thought it might work if I got to know him. However our interests were completely different, he's alittle possessive/controlling (tries talking me out of things, my career choice etc) and I'm just not feeling anything with him.

I've tried telling him that we seem to have nothing in common, but he said that's better as we can learn more about eachother. I tried taking hours to text him back, but he still seems persistent. We only dated twice but it feels like I've led him on too far. How do I tell him I'm not interested?

Just come out and say it.
Let him know politely and firmly.
Don't say it's not you, it me, no one believes that
Don't ride together, or tell him over the phone, please do not do it in a text.
Most of us don't enjoy this conversation, but it's part of dating.
We are adults, he will survive and you can go about your business knowing you did what is right.
My guess is that he will try to convince you he can change etc, but don't, it will only make it harder.
I was going to have the same conversation with a woman I was dating, but she beat me too it.
It was over the phone, I let her talk, and I said ok that's fine in a cheery voice, which struck her as odd, I wished her well and we said good bye.
I never did tell her I was going to do the same thing.
A month or so later I found one of her large tupperware containers at my house, so I took it to her work and put a Starbucks gift card in it for the rental fee and dropped it off at her work.
She worked 2nd shift so I went during the day so I wouldn't run into her, she was a dispatcher for a city fire and ambo dept, so her coworker said I'll go get her.
Oopps.
She came out, smiled and I explained to her what I was doing, didn't want her to think I was stalking her, we exchanged pleasantries and that was it.
I wished it would have worked out, but we could both see there wasn't any future in continuing.
So just do it, stick to your guns and things will be fine.

Just be blunt. Call him, or meet in person if you're happy to, tell him it isn't going to work and you want no contact.
