Girls, What are some ways to ask a girl out?

So I'm absolutely terrible at talking to girls, From having a bad experience in school I never have never properly asked a girl out... Is it just a casual thing? Do you prefer if we add on something like snap or fb to start talking first?

Is it as simple as walking up to someone and asking for her snap?

Some girls like to be asked out directly and in person. Then there are some girls who likes for guys to leave hints that you like them. Hints like checking up on her everyday, be a gentleman, heck, even buy her a single flower or their favorite sweets or drinks.

Maybe she was just dense. There are some girls who are so oblivious whenever someone that has a crush on them is giving them obvious hints that they like her.
