Do you feel you have difficulty socializing with other groups?

Like I don’t know how to camp cause I grew up with Asian parents so being exposed to cold water, roasting a lamb, starting a fire for cooking hot dogs, cleaning a wild fish, building the muscles to hike long trails, carrying proper camp gear, it’s all a foreign concept to me because I did not do that as a child. Also I don’t know how to garden cause my parents exclude me from that out of a fear I will drown the plants with too much water and I don’t like to walk bare foot on sand or swim in cold lakes, so I feel, I’m not compatible with white guys in dating.

Nah, I pretty much adapt to anybody. Because people are basically the same everywhere. It's just a matter of understanding thier cultural differences.

Last 4th of July we celebrated at my sister's and her neighbors are from Africa. We always make a big bonfire and sit around the fire pit at the end of the night. Roasting smores and talking (sometimes till sunrise). But the eldest family member of her neighbors didn't want to join us at first because I guess in thier culture when they gather around the fire the eldest tells stories. And he thought it was expected that he had to regale us with stories. When he realized that wasn't the case he came out and joined us. We listen to music and take turns picking songs and it was interesting to hear the differing music they liked.

I've seen your questions over the years and honestly Jennifer you could use a bit of therapy.

There is nothing wrong with it, you clearly had parents who messed you up by being too strict, there are many things that come natrual to most that you struggle with.

And it's clear that as an adult you're also looking to put yourself in a situation that is similar to the one you grew up with. Which is very harmful.

The fact that you accept that you have difficulty socializing is a decent first step but you are not there yet.

I was born and raised in the Philippines. I can still mingle with other races… I can say I get along and socialize with any colour and backgrounds pretty good… my parents are pretty cool actually. They didn’t get mad at me when I got a back tattoo considering I went to strict catholic private schools all my school life. I am good in adapting too. From the tropical 🌴 islands of the Philippines to the frigid winters of Canada. That’s night and day!

I do and I think it's very natural that you feel dislocated when you're getting in touch with people from different backgrounds. I think the most valid is that you try to get the better of a culture and adapt it to your own culture or to your limitations. For example, you might never learn how to proper camp or might not be interested by it, but it's consensus that being close to nature brings benefits for health and mind so you might at least learn to appreciate spending more time outdoors and go out to the woods or to a lake now and then

None of that is a big deal in fact it can be a good thing in some instances because then that’s something we can teach you if you wanna learn it.

But also a lot of white guys and just people in general don’t do that kind of stuff. So it’s not a big deal if you don’t know how to do em.

I can relate to your concerns, its tough. but honestly the right guy will spark your interest.. trust me ! You'll find that your life and upbringing will be extremely interesting to some men and they'd be fascinated by you.. and keep in mind that your background and beliefs arnt a barrier.. and if your finding that when your talking about such things and those your talking to are dismissive or acting awkward? Then your just socialising with the wrong people x
I know your concerns and struggles as I've had the same.. nowadays I have stopped caring what people may think and I now find things a lot easier and people react to me better because of that.. go with the flow babes things will fall in to place I promise you xxx

I don't feel that way, no. And actually, the nice thing about camping is that you can just kinda do it. I wouldn't let something small like your inexperience with camping get in your way when it comes to talking with white men.

You really ought to try sitting by a campfire, walking on a sandy beach, and other ways to get close to nature. Especially as an aspiring author, getting closer to nature could be good for you.

We tend to socialise with people similar to ourselves and under we all have weaknesses.

It's usually hard to socialize with someone you have nothing in common with, but I'm used to living and working with people from different backgrounds than myself, so it's not that difficult.

I'm an INFJ, pretty introverted and very independent by myself. Being around other people exhausts me after a while. I don't have a big social battery so rarely socialise with more than one or 2 people. It annoys me as i would like more genuine friends, but just can't find many people who enjoy quietness 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've absolutely missed out on this no doubt. I feel so bad that I've never gone on camping trips and I've never heard a fire crackling while I lie in a tent. I also enjoy the building strength part, because in general I'm a sporty person. It honestly doesn't matter where you came from, it's just that you don't have a knack for those things
