If you have actively dated and have "a type," how often do you date/have you dated someone who is NOT your type?

Almost everyone has "a type." This is an idealized partner who contains all of the physical attributes which you find to be most attractive. My type is a petite woman, with an atheltic or slender build, blond hair, 32A to 34B boobs, a smaller butt, and a cute face. . . like the lady in the picture. However, only four of my previous partners fit this mold. Some of them were taller, some heavier, some had big boobs, most were not blonde, and some did not really hav a cute face. ALL of them had other qualities and attributes that attracted me, and I did not feel that any of them were "lesser" partners because they were not my type. My current girlfriend is not "my type" and she is the best girlfriend I have ever had.

What is your exprience with dating "your type?" When you dated someone who was not your type, did you feel that they were not as good a partner?

I’m pale skin pale eyes thin/ athletic I am attracted to dark skin dark eyes & slim but not scrawny. I used to prefer guys to be my height but now I prefer taller. Not really on purpose but I’ve never dated outside my “type” tho A few times I lazily perused some very pale guys but my heart wasn’t in it.

Still trying to qualify what "my type" is.

But let's look at who I've often flocked to in the past:

- Mulatto girl, hated by all her classmates. I take a shine to her, but everyone else thinks she's a slut. She ignores me, and keeps chasing men that want nothing to do with her.

- Mexican girl, skinny, troubled home life. Alas, she didn't grow up well, and made lots of bad choices as an adult. Criminal record, lost her driver's license for like, forever.

- Brunette who turns to drinking as soon as legally old enough. Got my hopes up, then dashed them to a million pieces. Gained a ton of weight after high school, until I no longer recognized her.

- Dirty blonde who liked to dye her hair red. Grew up in a bad neighborhood, parents divorced. Rebel. Had me completely wrapped around her finger. Left me to pursue gangstas, red sports cars, and drugs. Died of heroin overdose 11 years after we broke up. Left behind a daughter in her wake. (Not mine.)

- Curly redhead redneck petite chick, smoker, nose ring, liked to play The Sims 2. Went to same campus ministry center. Total backstabber.

- Chinese exchange student. Turns out, she already had a boyfriend, and wasn't upfront with me. Got out of there pretty fast! I don't like being played like that! (Whose SNES is that? What? Busted!)

- Korean exchange student. Almost. But the community wouldn't allow it. No miscegenation for you!

- Burned out blonde single mom. The baby daddy died in a car accident. She decided she hated my guts when I couldn't help her with her chemistry assignments.

- Slovakian nutcase

- Blonde Mormon invalid, Huntington's disease, had survived a car hitting her. Divorced. Practically a zombie most days.

- Eccentric brunette pianist, who left YouTube and is now exclusively on Spotify. We never got anywhere, but I admire her talents.

- Filipina with a troubled family drama history, became an architect.

- Filipina architect, who later married a sailor. At least has a better head on her shoulders than the previous one.

- Blonde rebel who likes The Sims. But she was a cheater, and way too perverted for what I can tolerate.

- Brunette control freak nerd

- Flaky dirty blonde, who had a knack for winding up with very abusive men, and left me friendzoned

- Chinese saleswoman, who enjoyed my company but admitted she didn't understand my hobbies. Government scared her into ceasing contact with me. Got knocked up by a sketchy date, and is now raising her daughter somewhere in China without me. Second ever woman to knowingly flash her boobs to me on purpose.

- Black chick with the face of an angel, but zero common sense.

- Filipina on this site I've never met in real life, but seems like she'd be great to date.

- Crazy DeviantArt artist from Utah with a weird decap fetish, where she imagines herself as the victim. Looks like Dora the Explorer all grown up, but wrong somehow.

- Black chick who turned out to be a really clever bot with a convincing sob story. But I figured it out after a week.

- Mulatto chick working as a cleaner. She revealed she was married, so I hit the brakes on that, but I felt sorry when she told me the grossly unfair circumstances that led to her getting a felony on her record. I wish her and her husband the best. Cute skinny thing. Those bastards used covid to deny her any credible chance at making appeals.

- Black chick with two kids, working at Subway. Wonderful personality, but has a terrible work ethic. The Subway manager lady keeps threatening to fire her.

- Mixed race chick from New York, working at Subway. Then again, when she out of nowhere states that her favorite show is "Lucifer," I think: "red flag!". Also, she vapes.

- Delivery papergirl that stops in where I work often. Vaguely resembles Amy Lee from Evanescence. Has two small blue music notes tattooed on her right temple, just right of her eyebrow. A few extra pounds, but in my tolerance range.

My ex boyfriend had black hair and blue eyes. It is not common in the area I live in. My type is guys with dark hair and light colored eyes. My ex fitted the description perfectly. Though I was physically attracted to him, I feel like our relationship was toxic. Broke up with him when things went south.

Although, I did crush on a lot of guys when I was still in high school - and they all looked different but also similar. All of them were lanky, tall and had wavy hair. I love guys with thick (short) hair, lol. There was a guy in my school, let’s call him “F” (his name started with F) and he had hazelish light brown eyes. It sort of appeared either green or brown at times. He looked smart but also quite hot. I’ve also crushed on guys that had dark hair and eyes though, but I prefer guys who look “nerdy”. I have always loved guys that look AND behave intelligently.

After my ex, I did date a guy for a short while, let’s call him “S” and he was also tall, but he had dark eyes, the darkest I’ve ever seen. I felt like I could get lost in them, it was like a black hole. I found him incredibly dashing.

I don’t really care about skin color though… my crushes were all a bit darker than me or the same skin tone as me. It does not matter as much. I like them all.

There was this one other guy who was a year older than me, never knew his name, but he wore spectacles that just made him look… hot. He also clearly worked out a lot, lol. I liked his hands and arms. They looked strong.

Funnily, when I was younger, one of my first celebrity crushes was Paul Walker who had blonde hair and blue eyes. I don’t find as many blonde haired men appealing now, but damn, some are stunning as hell. Red heads rock too!

I don’t have a specific type. Physically, as long as a guy isn’t unattractive (have an appealing face and in shape) I’ll give him a chance. I would say I prefer men my age for personal reasons, may be the only type I can think of.

The bare minimum: he has to be respectful of me being a human being, not a sexist, naturally faithful (not a cheater because that cannot be untaught), nice, etc. Everything else would come with time like loving me and wanting my time.

Overall, I really don’t have a type lol. Maybe I’m weird for not caring about a guy’s hair color, boobie size, or lip shape. I do find it interesting other people do care these insignificant things though. Do hair color makes someone less attractive? Maybe I’m just wired different. I do think it’s weird as hell but what others prefer and not prefer isn’t my business at the end of the day and if I’m not considered attractive to any guy for any reason or if he prefer other women for any little reason, I’ll rather he leave me alone and I’ll rather be alone than be any one’s second. However, it isn’t as if I could read minds lol. . so I guess I’ll never really know

I never thought of having a "type" when I was dating, aside from liking girls who had what I consider to be attractive features - cute faces, nice figures and decent-size boobs. I do like boobs. I guess all my girlfriends were on the shorter side (under 5'6"). So that fit my unconscious height preference. But I wasn't hung up on specifics like hair and eyes. They just had to be pretty.

My girlfriends all had different color hair, eyes and skin. But they were all Caucasian.

One girlfriend had strawberry-blond hair that I adored. She was beautiful with a peaches and cream complexion and freckles across the bridge of her nose.

One girlfriend (the last one I had before I met my wife) turned out to be my physical ideal. From then on, my ideal was based on her. Bouncy, natural blond hair; a cute face; lovely lips; blue eyes; flawless white skin with soft-pink parts; 5'2" (I'm 6'2"), 32C bra that would have been 28F in true measurements; perfect curves; a waist to hip ratio that I'm sure was around 0.7; a round, firm yet full, bouncy bottom; small, delicate hands and feet.

My wife is 5'5" with curly, orange-brown hair and a similar figure to the one mentioned above. You know, the classic 36", 24", 36" type, although I never asked a girl's measurements. My eyes tell me what I need to know.

Although i dont have a specific type tho I don't know how to explain it. There are just certain guys that i find attractive, but they wouldn't have any similarities (look-wise). Different height, body type, race. I don't know what it is they all have in common.

My type goes like this;

Your most attractive features are your heart, soul, personality and a beautiful soul.

All of those mean more to me than how someone actually looks. As to me, I've known guys that were average but as I got to know them, they started looking really hansom and cute to me. Fell in love with them, also known hot Chads that I got to know them, they started to look real ugly and disgusting.

It’s usually a persons morality that turns me off and on and whether they share the same views or come from similar background.

Someone’s personal appearance is important but they’re beliefs and values are the real decider.

This is a very interesting post. My ex boyfriend liked blonde girls who were petite and I was the opposite I had dark hair and dark skin and body was pear shaped. Our relationship was really good but the breakup was horrible for me he came off saying blondes were prettier than me, broke my heart like hell.
