He could be raised in a different culture or believes in different values or principals to you, it doesn't mean there's something off about him.

If he has had a lot of negative experiences with women, that would seem more like a bad sign, I'd keep my guards high.

I would be surprised, because high chance something is wrong with him if no knows no girls (not even as friends) and would assume he’s more shy and introverted.
