You need to move on from this guy. He is either not interested in you romantically or is very busy for a relationship. You being his childhood friend also plays a huge role. He might not want to ruin your friendship.

You are stressing yourself out too much by mulling over this. Are you sure he is worth the pain? You should either tell him how you feel, if he seems to reciprocate the feelings well and good.. but if he doesn't, you need to be ready to move on. I don't think you are though.
